Flight 1 / Dreamfleet C152

Featured Replies

Now that this has been out a few months, what are people's views about it? Is it worth the $18? Do you still fly it? How does it compare to, say, the Carenado C152. Good and bad points would be welcome...ThanksRichard

I really like it, and fly it on a regular basis. AFAIK the Flight 1 C152 is the only available model with a virtual cockpit, which is a top priority for me.In the default configuration the VC is a bit grainy, but changing the pixel_size=512,512 lines in the panel.cfg VC section to 1024,1024 makes it very crisp, you can hardly see any difference to the 2D cockpit. The 152 is a relatively slow plane, both in the sim and in the real world. When training flight maneuvers and navigation this is actually positive, because it gives you time to think and react.18$ is a justified price for a very well made plane that does not include any fancy or complicated avionics.Just my 2c (EUR),VOlker :]

Great plane. Don't fly it all the time, but it is great to take it out for a few patterns around your favorite field on a nice day. It is great to load up and "get back to basics" and just fly the plane.

I was considering this plane also, but read a while back that there are issues with roll in FS9 - something along the lines that the plane should fly straight and level by design, but tends to roll around a bit during cruise. Any comments on that? Doesn't sound like its an issue you've encountered? Thanks - the screens look great and I love the little birds!sg

Just a little aside. I trained on these, and got my PPL in one, then immediately moved on to Warriors, which I have flown universally for 3 years. The other week, I decided to have a re checkout in a C152... and it was really great fun. Real back to basics flying, and the high wing allows great sight-seeing. Forgot they don't float on landing though, which led to a couple of abrupt round outs on the first couple of touch and goes :-shy

If you trim her right, she will fly straight and level. Never had much of a problem with her rolling. Once in a while, you might have to level the wings off, but I would assume that is normal in planes like that.

This is a very good quality addon. I recommend it. The flight model is really convincing. I also trained on C-150s and C-152. There was a minor issue relating to the behavior of the turn coordinator gauge that hasn't been resolved. That's a shame, especially in a primary trainer. I wish F1 would get to work resolving this, but it looks like they have moved on to other things. Anyway, this shouldn't diminish your enjoyment of the plane. Money well spent.

Maybe that's what I'm recalling. That's just a gauge issue with the coordination ball, right? Not an actual flight model issue?sg
