October 10, 200322 yr Even in the middle of clouds and flying around in them.. I don't believe it, and I can't describe my elation. But, I have sliders maxed with Active Sky 1.91 and Megascenery. Yes, the screen menu still flickers, but I am getting smooth, no blurries, 100% clouds, all sliders maxed, 30-35...EVEN IN MEGASCENERY CALIFORNIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not kid. And all sliders are set to supreme quality on the ATI control panel. A little flickering in the distance, because the new drivers have mipmapping set in the negative values more than -1.0 I think. But, anyway, this rocks! Jets and props. Only thing is the low overcast layer problem, but with 100% clouds and high detail, they actually form around mountains much better. Just that low overcast layer...shows a little transparent on the buildings. You can see that above 100-400 ft there should be overcast, but it is only represented by lower visibility. October 10, 200322 yr Commercial Member I take it that's a big jump in frame rates for you? I see a tiny smidgen of performance increase with the 3.8s, but the colors do look better and overall I like them. I can't say I've had that kind of performance boost, though! Did you install/reinstall anything special, or just tear out the old Catalysts and put in the new ones? Inquiring minds want to know!thanks, Bill Womack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Visit my FS Blog or follow me on Twitter (username: bwomack). October 10, 200322 yr >Using Chris Willis clouds too!Well, then that explains it, as those are very low density by comparison to default clouds :()I think I may have gotten a bit of a boost on these, but not dramatic. I DO get dramatic improvement however when I lower my AF from 16x to 4x, and my AA from 4x to 2x, and the image quality loss is very minimal. I landed in complex clouds n weather (with default clouds mind you) into KSEA and managed to maintain my 24FPS lock (ok it dipped to 22 occasionally) which is really good considering I am running Autogen maxed, and ALL other sliders maxed, except clouds at "HIGH" (distance is maxed though). KSEA is often a good test for performance IMHO.Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. October 10, 200322 yr I don't have an ati card-but I have found that megascenery gives much more performance on my setup than the generic fs textures. With megascenery I get 25-35 fps and real smooth flight even with autogen maxed-the fs generic12-18.Go figure?!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/Geofdog2.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
October 10, 200322 yr Is there any autogen on top of the megascenery? If autogen displays the same, I'd be curious if there's a difference in texture size or format somehow. If there were, perhaps default textures could be converted to the same. -John
October 10, 200322 yr That's your ATI 9700 getting you those frames and that nice processor. The 3.8s are just helping it along. You just got that card, right? Thought I remembered you asking about ATI a couple weeks ago. I also use Chris' clouds with my 9700 Pro. They not only look good; but they do give a nice boost in frames. You should be able to fly in thunderstorms with em' maxed out with density on high without any problems now. The clouds along with the autogen fixes has made this sim scream.
