Rob's 172 and Lessons

Featured Replies

Thanks for the suggestion. I considered this but I wasn't sure how many files had been changed for the RealAir C172. Since the external models are so close, if all it involves is just pasting in two new files, then perhaps this is the easiest answer of all. Thanks again. Steve J.

The external model is beyond close, it's exactly the same! I changed my default 172 air file out for Rob's version. The two things you'll want to change are:1. Copy the RealAirSimulationsC172SP.air file into your default c172 folder2. Change all the "Sim=" references in the default 172's aircraft.cfg file to point to this new air file (you can always change it back if for some reason you don't like the new air file (yeah, right ;-))3. Copy the RealAir sounds that came with the zip to the c172sound folder, including the sound.cfg file (this is optional, but I like the sounds they added)That should do the trick. Then you won't have to muck around with changing things in the flight files. Disclaimer: I haven't tried to fly the lessons yet, but the "stock" 172 now flies like a dream. Hopefully the enhanced flight dynamics won't affect the outcome of the lessons .

Thanks, Rob. The new air file really brings the old 172 back to life! I hope you don't mind me advocating using the partial RealAir package, but it's a lot easier to modify the default 172 than to try reset all the references to it in the various flight files. Can't wait to release the scenery! I'm just patiently waiting for AFCAD2 to be released, and then KRDG will be ready for prime time.thanks,

Can you change the ATP checkride plane from the boeing to the lear or will it fail you because the power setting may differ or something like that?NP

Thanks, Bill, for your help.
