November 6, 201015 yr B629 is, IMO, the best update so far to ASE as far as accuracy of depicted wx. But I am experiencing one minor annoyance.About every 10 minutes or so, when flying at high altitudes (FL 180 and above), I see rapidly flashing light, which covers the entire observable sky. This lasts for about 45 sec. to one minute, then stops. Then 10-12 minutes or so later, this flashing repeats. I don't notice this when flying below, say 10,000 feet. I have my wx updates set to every 10 minutes, in ASE. However, I can't say for certain that there is a connection between the wx updates and the flashing.Anyone else observe this?Bob

November 8, 201015 yr Anyone else observe this?In standard mode yes I have, regularly, when ASE updates the weather.I just am in the middle of my first B638 flight, but I am trying the new DWC with the new FSUIPC, see if it works better with RC4 than before, in DWC I see no white flashes. November 9, 201015 yr would be interested in your results with DWC and RC4.Weather report on ATIS seems good, dont recall seeing the winds issue that you reported, they were a little off then what I expected when I went over the Wx Brief at destination.RC stills lags up, especially so on approach. Flew into a quieter airport (KABQ) so it wasnt that much of an issue, still got a "Cleared to land" call. Have to try it at a busier airport to see if it is usable. My first thought was, RC is laggng, but not as much as before. Have to beaware of this, could just be wishful thinking placebo situation. Plan on trying another flight later today to see. I will gladly keep you informed.Cheers. January 11, 201115 yr Hi Jim and Damian, I have been experiencing the flashing as well, for me it is visible in the topmost area of the viewable "sphere" within the FSX world. I would include the text from the log but that would take alot of room and I am unable to attach a .txt or .zip file, if you would like a copy of the log let me know. The phenomena occurs when "Depecition Output Active" is displayed at the bottom of the ASE UI and the "Sim Queue Count" is displaying a count from 0-15 then back to zero. At times there is a flash that last's only a second and the "Sim Queue Count" remains at zero, this is where the Flash occurred: 23:31:37:0703 - Sent Weather: 214C 23:31:37:0859 - Added station to FSX: 214D 23:31:37:0921 - Sent String: 214E 052119Z 13101KT 18471 BKN001 00/M01 Q1017 RMK ADVANCED INTERPOLATION 23:31:37:0921 - Sending Seconds Zero Write... 23:31:38:0015 - Sent Weather: 214D 23:31:38:0171 - Added station to FSX: 214E 23:31:38:0218 - Sent String: 214F 052119Z 14002KT 21603 BKN001 M00/M01 Q1016 RMK ADVANCED INTERPOLATION 23:31:38:0218 - Sending Seconds Zero Write... 23:31:38:0312 - Sent Weather: 214E 23:31:38:0468 - Added station to FSX: 214F 23:31:38:0515 - Sent String: 2150 052119Z 14003KT 26251 SCT001 M00/M01 Q1016 RMK ADVANCED INTERPOLATION 23:31:38:0515 - Sending Seconds Zero Write... 23:31:38:0625 - Sent Weather: 214F 23:31:38:0781 - Added station to FSX: 2150 23:31:38:0796 - Sent String: 2151 052119Z 14001KT 17503 BKN001 00/M01 Q1017 RMK ADVANCED INTERPOLATION 23:31:38:0796 - Sending Seconds Zero Write... 23:31:38:0937 - Sent Weather: 2150 23:31:39:0078 - Added station to FSX: 2151 23:31:39:0234 - Sent Weather: 2151 I am currently flying from London (EGLL) to Larnaca (LCLK) and have loaded the weather via the "Briefing" tab. I recorded the time of the last event between 23:32:19 and 23:34:15 when I entered the Salzburg, Aus region, again this is where the "Sim Queue Count" was counting from 0-15 and back to 0 again. Here is the route I am flying: EGLL DCT DVR KONAN KOK FERDI BUPAL REMBA SPI PELIX MATUG AMASI BOMBI DETEV DINKU AKANU LUPOX RENLO BESNI OLETU EBEDA ROTAX UNKEN OBEDI TEDRA ELKAT NAKUM KFT KLAGY PODET ZAG GUBOK DER DIMSI VAL SOSEK NIS NISVA DOTAM OMENO RODOP IDILO BELGI CNK SUDES DUGLA NILER KULAR NESIL LAMSA EDISI TOMBI DASNI DAROS DCT LCLK I have AA enabled in the nVidia Inspector, disabled Tool Tips in FSX and disabled DWC in the ASE UI. I thought I would provide my observations in the hopes of finding a solution.Robert \Robert Hamlich/
January 11, 201115 yr Hi,If ASE is in Standard Depiction Mode you are going to see flashing due to SimConnect. The only fix is to not use Standard Mode as the other 2 modes are using SimConnect in an enhanced manner.
January 11, 201115 yr HI Jim,Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I am using Standard mode, I'll try "Smooth Cloud Transitions" as I use FSUIPC to smooth winds out when flying online.**EDIT**Changing to the other mode seems to have done the trick, I am no longer experiencing the flashing.
