November 7, 201015 yr You need to install FSX into a directory other than C:\Program Files. Otherwise you will get all sorts of problems when add-ons are installed. For me, I have my FSX installed in C:\FSX and have had no issues with it what so ever. Other than that I don't think it matters what order things are installed in, but i don't own GEX so someone else will need to confirm this. November 7, 201015 yr I made a video of FSX machine here detailing parts etc.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymQKAM_2VqgIve also made one of how to overclockt the board to 4ghz.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPyHVGmyjQoIf you want to create your FSX machine right, id go for an 15/I7 cpu and Nvidia 400 series card.I think most on here would say the same. November 7, 201015 yr I agree with "themose" in part. I would go with the I7/Nvidia card(s). I read in this forum somewhere that the I7/Nvidia systems handle FSX better (it has been stated several times here and it could be in the next thread on this page). ATI was very, very slow in making a video card for FSX back in 2007 and I suspect they are still having some issues with it. AMD and ATI were in the process of merging at that time too so that could have been the reason for the problems. I'm getting ready to upgrade to an I7 system but will probably go with the Extreme CPU like the 980X or 990X (to be released soon) ONLY because I currently have an Extreme CPU and it has worked extremely well with FSX with modest system settings and I have the money. I also want to be prepared for the future and future renditions of flight simulator (I7 920 is definitely a CPU for the future too). I think the future is the number of cores and the software programming to best utilize those cores and I think the Microsoft team is thinking in those lines too. That is the future, not necessarily the speed. If the Aces Team had stayed together perhaps we would have seen updates to FSX to better utilize the multicore systems. I know Phil Taylor, the lead developer, was thinking in those lines before he moved on to Intel. I agree with "themose" in his post and the video he made on putting a system together. Well done!Best regards,Jim
