CHProducts USB Yoke Assignments

Featured Replies

Hi all,Without a map loaded in the CH USB yoke, the button functions differ from the assignments in the key commands list. For example, gear down is operated by button 6 and gear up is operated by button 5, i.e. two separate button functions. This differs from the assignments in the key commands list, which only shows a single toggle command (g) for the operation of both gear up and gear down. It appears that without a map loaded the yoke is linked to FS2004 independently of the key commands list.I would like to assign Pan View Reset to a button on the yoke. The key command is KP. although Pan View Reset isn't listed in the SettingsAssignment list. I can work around that by remapping the button in CH Control Manager, but loading a map reverts the other buttons to the functions in the key command listing and the gear up and down are then controlled by a toggle command on one button, instead of two separate buttons. I would like to retain the operation of buttons 5 and 6 so that up (button 5) will only raise the gear and down (button 6) will only lower the gear.My questions:-1) Is it possible to remap some buttons on the yoke while still retaining the separate gear up and gear down button functions instead of a single toggle command?2) Is there a way to add Gear Up and Gear Down as two separate commands in the SettingsAssignments list?3) Is there a way to add the Pan View Reset command in the SettingsAssignments list?Graham

1) yes2) yes3) yesJust go into your assignments menu and change them to what you like. Also look under assignments and you will see ****** Look Forward Now (Pan reset) Shift Num (Del) ********A tip to find the assigment is to look for the command first. So , you may change any button to do whatever your heart desires.Regards,Joehttp://aboutpolitics.net/images/bannerav.gif.About Politics.net - FORUMShttp://pub207.ezboard.com/bpoliticsgivemel...tyorgivemedeath.Contribute to the Richard Harvey Scholarship Fund.http://www.avsim.com/pages/scholarship.shtml

Hi Joe,Thanks for your response.I've found the Look Forward Now (pan reset) command so that answerS 3). I didn't see it before because I was looking for different wording. For 1) and 2) though, I've looked through the Assignment List line by line several times but I still can't see separate Landing Gear Up and Landing Gear Down commands. I can see the Landing Gear Up/Down toggle (which is G) but that's not what I'm looking for.I can see the Landing Gear Manual Extension command (CTRL +G) but that doesn't work on the aircraft I'm using (C208). I suspect that may be an emergency operation that only works on some aircraft???Can you tell me what I should be looking for to get two separate commands for Landing Gear Up and Landing Gear Down?RegardsGraham

<<<>>><<<>>JoeI think you'll find that your two buttons on your yoke (as quoted above) do both: they are just assigned to the same motion twice. Check that. I don't believe it's possible to split this command as it's a toggle command in the coding, not a switch command.I may be wrong, but no one's said otherwise yet.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

> I may be wrong, but no one's said otherwise yet.Well then, I'll say it Mark. You're wrong! WOW that sounds confrontational, doesn't it? Please forgive me, I've been reading too many flames in these forums;) But seriously:Here's the CH yoke assignments for buttons 5 and 6 from my FS9.cfg file and they are not toggles. The first push of either button moves the gear in the stated direction and subsequent pushes do nothing.BUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_04=GEAR_UPBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_05=GEAR_DOWNYou are right that the only selection in the FS settings list is to toggle the gear. As I have tweaked (and tweaked and tweaked . . .) FS2004 and, in some cases allowed new config files to be created, I've noted that FS is not consistent in these assignments. I usually get gear toggle assigned to one button and another (unrelated) function assigned to the other one. Then, I manually edit FS9.cfg to use the GEAR_UP and GEAR_DOWN key words. Knowing these key words, then I assume that I could assign them to keyboard keys in the config file but I've never tried. R-EDIT to add the Smiley. I don't want to offend you Mark. R-

Very happy to be corrected and such is the real benefit of these forums rather than kicking each other where the sun doesn't shine all day. There's far too much of that.Bet you're fat though :-lol Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

I'll bet that my 'puter can whip your 'puter! Neener, neener, neener. R-

OK, I got it sorted.I started again by allowing FS to create a new fs9.cfg. The Gear Up and Gear Down were working separately so I changed the other commands around that within FS to get what I wanted. That's what I should have done to begin with. Where I went wrong previously was trying to use CH Manager for the key mapping. It's useful to install this program to get the adjustable axis profiling and if you stop there it's OK but if you go further and load a map you can only use the Gear Up/Down toggle. Thanks for the help, guys.RegardsGraham

>> It's useful to install this program to get the adjustable axis profiling and if you stop there it's OK but if you go further and load a map you can only use the Gear Up/Down toggle. <http://www.schiratti.com on Pete's page for the latest version, most are only available either by manually editing the FS9.cfg file or the Devices.cfg file.Using the Control Manager with FS is a little confusing at first because of the way that FS makes assignments. If you're interested, there's a file and freeware utility on my web site, CMFS, that includes a DOC file that explains what's happening and includes a utility and a couple of sample maps to help sort things out. It was originally written for FS2k2, but the utility reportedly works fine in FS9, you just need to point it to the right location for the Devices.cfg file since it will default to looking in the FS2k2 location.Hope this helps!- BobThe StickWorkshttp://www.stickworks.com
