November 14, 201015 yr hello I,m here to ask why does my ai traffic release its landing gear early before the approach because when i,m watching them land at heathrow they always release their landing gear before final approachand i really need help solving this i know its wierd but i want it like reality because i live in london and i always see heathrow aircraft flying over the capital city london and i know exactly where they should release the landingAs you can all see in the image that the a330 traffic has released its gear out to early when heathrow is about 30 miles away and the plane is not suppose to be on approach yet so if anyone has any solutions please comment back.right on the image below this is where the gear should be released as i am desiratley asking for help to stop these traffic to release the gear at a high altitude and a place where its not taken out in real life.Another problem i have is when ai traffic turns to final and release their landing gear in real life they don,t really do this happens once in a while for examle:so if any one knows how to change the aircraft cfg or settings of the traffic to stop these things please comment back i would really appritiate it.Thank you
November 15, 201015 yr Watch a default plane and see if the same thing happens. There dosen't seem to be much flap action in your screen shots, either. I don't know what triggers landing gear, but it could be something to do with ILS. In that case you would have to alter the airport. Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
November 15, 201015 yr The landing gear is deployed when the AI plane reaches the FAF (final approach fix) for the approach in use. In VFR conditions (but IFR flights) at default airports that is typically when they line up for the runway (i.e. turn to final). It can be earlier with a custom approach created in a program like ADE9X.Hope this helps, Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page

February 12, 201115 yr thanks i'll try the progammeJust FYI, delaying lowering the gear much closer to touch down is a fairly recent thing, as there is a much higher noise footprint with gear down. "Back in the day" most pilots would lower the gear further out as it helps get the airspeed settled and gives you more time to achieve a stable final approach. So the AI logic is actually "realistic" if you're judging it by when the program code was written rather than today's procedures. Being an old but not bold former pilot, I still lower my gear right after turning final in a visual approach or no later than crossing the OM in an ILS approach. (That is when I remember to lower the gear - I did say "old" remember!) :(
