Hello AllI was wondering if anybody has experienced this intensely irritating problem.I start up PC and for a few moments everything is fine, but after a short while my mouse becomes very sticky and laggy, scrolling pages also very laggy, posting on the forums becomes tedious as the words I am typing take a second or more to appear. For some reason this situation seems to resolve itself after awhile.VERY! irritating.Browser is Chrome by the way.cheers Andy

Few things:-mouse make/model-keyboard make/model-mouse & keyboard connection types (PS2 or USB)-OS-Graphics drivers-system specs. Also try using IE, firefox or Safari.

Try and Ctrl-Alt-Del to open your Task Manager, then click twice (not double-click) on the CPU column to list all your PC's processes by CPU usage from most to least. This will show you if a particular process is hogging the CPU.If this is not the case, under MenuBar/View/SelectColumns you can add I/O per second columns and again click twice on the column header to see if a particular process is hogging your hard disk.Anti-virus programs are notorious for doing both and can slow your system to a crawl, while malware (if your PC is infected, also a possibility, and may not show-up in Task Manager!) can be even less respectful the user needing a prompt and responsive GUI.Cheers,- jahman.

You mind reposting this? I think your advice may also be helpful for our friend Dave re-his 580GTX stuttering

Now this is interesting stuff.I will do as you suggest.I am pretty sure its not malware as I am always running C-cleaner and I-obit Advance system care both of which check for malware.I do use COMMODO free firewall+antivirus program so perhaps its antivirus component causing this. The strange thing is as I type this message now everything is fine again,it seems to be something to do with PC shortly after startup when this occurs after which the condition gradually recedes with time till next startup.I will check the task manager next time this occurs and see if this offers a clue as to the culprit.cheers and thanks AndyA

If you have a bunch of programs loading when you first boot your PC that can cause some very slow response times until everything is loaded. The solution is to get into your msconfig file and get rid of the crap that you do not need. However you need to know what you are doing. If you disable something that the keyboard or mouse needs then they will not work right or not work at all. When you download stuff like java, Google Earth, Adobe Acrobat and a lot of other software they all add their crap to your msconfig file. Crap like "I am going to go see if there is an update available for download" If you have 5 or more programs looking to see if there is an update they can ask you if you want to download think of all the resources that is consuming!
