November 22, 201015 yr Another one about fuel:The manual isn't too informative what fuel amounts to ALTN mean in detail: The fuel required from a certain position (e.g. holding fix) directly to the ALTN, or the distance from DEST to ALTN? November 22, 201015 yr Alternate fuel is generally assumed to be fuel required based on distance to alternate. Allowances for holding are not included, and diversions to alternate would normally occur before the missed approach since US carrier rules require the reported conditions to be above minima before the approach can be flown, no such thing as going in for a look like we are allowed in general aviation to do (as many times as we are foolish enough to try). November 23, 201015 yr Author After re-reading the manual I conclude ALTN is always calculated from the original destination (which becomes a waypoint then) to the ALTN destination. Thank you anyway.
