Crash (not the computer kind, the "plane go boom" kind!) during startup procedure

Featured Replies

I'm giving a go at this bird following the startup procedures in the tutorial. I had both engines powered up and then started to move the power levers to the hatch marks one by one to remove the start locks. I heard the engines spool up a bit and got the callout for start locks removed, then suddenly I get the external view with the message bar on top saying "Crash" and the plane was pitched in a 90* vertical position. What the heck happened?! There's a note about a bug in FSX's modelling of turboprops where the engines will run up to full power if left in the just aft of flight idle position, was it something related to this? Thanks in advance!Molly Norris

I think it was exactly what You have described: engines to full reverse power+parking brake=plane crash. Next time make sure You have set power to idle (F1) and then remove start locks.

Well, you remove the start locks by moving the power levers, so they were at idle already and then I backed them into reverse thrust a bit. Condition levers were at taxi. I'm sure it's just something I did wrong, will park my nose in the manual tonight and see what I come up with :(
