December 16, 201015 yr Commercial Member I'd say if you just want the fastest GPU processing around go with the 580. But with that speed comes a higher price - $500+ compared to $370 on average for the 6970. If you want more dedicated GPU RAM (2GB) for great performance at higher resolution, or plan on using more than one monitor (up to six using Eyefinity), I would go with AMD 6970. That's why I chose the 6970 for my new build. Plus I want to check out their latest architecture related to morphological anti-aliasing, EQAA, power tuning, tessellation and a bunch other stuff I have no idea what they mean, ha!But in all honesty, with either of those two cards could you really go wrong?Hope that helps. December 18, 201015 yr The 6970 is only better at higher resolutions.Since you have obviously tried both the HD6970 and GTX580 with FSX, it would be nice to hear about the pros and cons of each card...
