December 23, 201015 yr Commercial Member Mainly i upgraded to i7 because of FSX...That was the reason of going directly into Overclocking as soon as i got it. FSX needs infinite GHZ...the higher the better they say..And it is true.Since i see many people here that are or will be on this path i am just putting down what I did in order to learn how to overclock. I thought sharing this info may help others.First of all i want to say that there are dozens of other options out there to do it. This is just what worked for me. Dont shoot me :)))I am reading/searching the following forums (order of preference):1. http://www.overclock.net/2. http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/3. http://www.overclockers.com/AND also my motherboards manufacturer forum . THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE THERE IS NO GENERIC OVERCLOCKING OUT THERE. GENERIC ADVICES ARE ONLY FOR CONSULTANCY, NOT IMPLEMENTING TO A DIFFERENT SYSTEMFor Gigabyte i am following this: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/Also the most importnat..Reading stuff....Hundrends of pages regarding overclocking.I put the ones that i read and combined in order to understand what is happening:1. From Gigabyte. Interesting as it says in relatively easy wording what is happening: http://benchmarkreviews.com/images/reviews/motherboards/GA-EX58-EXTREME/corei7_x58_bios_guide.pdf2. The first i start reading: http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/538439-guide-overclocking-core-i7-920-930-a.html3. Overclocking to 4Ghz for an i7 920: http://images.tweaktown.com/imagebank/Core%20i7%20920%20oc%204G%202008.12.12_%28ENG%29.pdf4. 3-Step overclocking guide : http://www.overclockers.com/3-step-guide-overclock-core-i3-i5-i7/5. Latest Overclocking Programs, System Info, Benchmarking, & Stability Tools (From Gigabyte BUT NOT ONLY for Gigabyte) : http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/30530-latest-overclocking-programs-system-info-benchmarking-stability-tools.htmlHappy reading.
