Messed up ADV display!

Featured Replies

I have been using RCv4 fine for years but today after installing the Qualitywings 757 it has messed the RCv4 ADV display window up and FSUIPC as well! Basically it has made the window go untransparent as seen in this pic.fsscr000-29.jpgThis is how it used to be. ie a sort of "clear" shaded panel.fsscr033-3.jpgI also get along side that a large green box that has text in it that is to do with the instructions RCv4 is giving me. Both of the above are very annoying after using RC perfectly. I understand this is not your fault at all but I just thought I might get a quicker help here than at the QW forums. Another thing is that when the RCv4 box is open now it makes panning in outside view very slow and jerky despite good FPS. Finally the Ctrl+X command to close the window no longer works. Thanks for any help,

1. Make sure the QW installation did not install advdisplay.dll in the modules folder. If so, rename it to advdisplay.dlx.2. Make sure the QW installation did not overwrite FSUIPC with an older version. Reinstall FSUIPC base packages first for your FS version from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html. Then update the version from the updated modules link at http://forum.simflight.com/forum/142-download-links/. Also grab the latest makerwys from Additional Programs link on that same page.3. In RC options turn off Display Text unless you need it. I assume RC is on your FS machine. What I see in the screenies is the displays from older versions of FSUIPC. Now they are combined in a single transparent window consisting of a menu and status section. Before you update these utilities be sure your path(s) to FS are correct in your registry. Get a free registry checker/repair tool from:http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library as FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB)FSUIPC now installs itself after you extract the .zip first getting the path from your registry.Let us know how you make out.

Well I just installed the latest FSUIPC and the ADV box stills looks the same as in the first picture above. A system restore to before I installed the QW 757 might work but I really don't want to as I would then have to reinstall a load of other software as well.

I think I've just fixed it. It works if I DON'T select ADV disp from the menu. If I leave it unchecked the semi transparent box appears automatically once RC is started.Andy S

Best bet is to rename the module:"Make sure the QW installation did not install advdisplay.dll in the modules folder. If so, rename it to advdisplay.dlx"That way it will not appear in the FS menu modules dropdown to be accidentally checked.
