December 27, 201015 yr Hi GuysI keep getting this problem, and yes I have trawled the forum to try and find a solution including the registry repair tool and updating all my navdata. I am at the point of giving up on the pmdg 747 which is a shame because I have spent hours learning how to program the FMC. The aircraft flys right up to the destination airport and touches down bang on the threshold at a 45 deg angle to the runway at which point it tries to correct itself to the runway heading. I might add I have no add on scenary installed. I am at my wits end at what to try next. I would really appreciate any help you guys can give me.Best wishes to you allRoy Pike

December 27, 201015 yr Author That's a good reply, and yes I think I was so cought up with the autopilot thing that I forgot what flying was about ie: to learn to actually fly the aircraft. So genuinely,Thanks for reminding meBest WishesRoy
January 19, 201115 yr I had a strange thing happen to me on my second to last flight in my 748f. On my ILS approach, all the way to the ground I was offset from the runway (but still parallel) by approximately 50ft or so. The next morning I flew the same rout and entered the same STARs and was dead on all the way to the runway. Why it was off durring the first approach, I have no idea. And why it was on the second approach...who knows?I will say one thing about the 8f vs the MD-11f. The 8f flies like a fighter jet in comparison. lol John Hundley
January 19, 201115 yr Commercial Member Are you flying the LOC beam / have you selected the proper approach to the runway? There isn't a lot of information in your post, so I really have little to go on here. I will also add that very (seriously, very) few approaches are actually autolands. I don't understand all of the virtual pilots here and their obsession with autolands. Every once in a while, it's nice to watch the automation do its thing, but 99% of the time, pull the plane off of the auto-business and land it like you're supposed to.Autoland isn't supposed to be a crutch, it's supposed to be a last resort, really. The weather's bad, it's been bad for hours, but the facility has a CAT-III system, and you're properly equipped. Why divert when the plane can take it to the runway? By all means, use the 0 DH.Rant over.Posting anything and everything related to your "hours" of learning and setting up the FMC (which should only take a few minutes, really) for this flight would probably be very helpful. January 20, 201115 yr Hey there, Kyle. Actually it was a very foggy night. In most cases (even in the thick of the fog) I really enjoy a good manual approach with the instruments. And you're right...to many people use the auto-land as a crutch, but it is a free world. lol I was merely commenting on the fact that one approach was offset and the other (identical) was dead on with the auto land. Probably just a mishap on my part. I had been flying the MD-11F and was use to its fmc, but now I'm enjoying the power of four and the touchier controls of the 744 and 8fs.I can't wait for the 737 to roll out so I can give it a go too!I am now under the control of PMDG :( John Hundley
