December 27, 201015 yr Hi guys,I just recently bought a new laptop with windows 7 64bit (which I wish I could uninstall and go back to XP!!). I've had a few issues with FS9 like everyone else probably has had but I am sorting it out one by one. I still have my old lap top with Windows XP and I was wondering if anyone has successfully networked these two platforms together using WideFS.I run Active Sky Evolution, FS Commander etc and it would be nice to have these all run on another the old laptop so I can leave FS9 to run on the newer one. Any advice? Thanks,Jermaine. December 29, 201015 yr Author Hi John, thanks for your reply. Can you point me in the right direction on where to get started with Networking and Flightsim? I'm pretty new to networking on the whole. I've just registered a copy of WideFS and I don't have a router. I'm trying to do a direct Laptop to Laptop connection using an Ethernet Cable... Not sure if that's possible or not! :( I've also read that you can connect two laptops wirelessly.Thanks,Jermaine. Jermaine. No problems. December 29, 201015 yr JermaineI have Win7 and XP computers networked together using and ethernet crossover cable. When I need to go on line via the internet both also have wireless adaptors connected to my wirelss router but this is not necessary for the basic connection between two computers using Wide FS.Setting up the network in Windows is pretty straight forward although it looks a bit frightening at first sight - I remember when I first started! However, some of the programmes I use (Flight Sim Commander, Wide FS etc) have very good guides in their manuals and if you do a google search you will find step by step intructions on setting up the basic network so that you an share files between the two computers. Also a good start would be the networking forum here under Hardware.Have a look and if you have any specific questions, post back hereRegardsJohn R
