December 30, 201015 yr Hello,I am having a rather odd problem. When attempting to land (in any aircraft) the plane will suddenly start banking sharply to the left, i attempt to correct and starts banking to the right. Autopilot is not on, this is not a weather issue, well at least not winds, it happens all the time. Any ideas? Thanks Ian R Tyldesley
December 30, 201015 yr Wotan, you took one of the most un-unique thread titles around. There aren't many details included in your post (which software is installed and which planes you try to land there for example), so I throw in a small report about "Wake Turbulence" simulated by e. g. Active Sky.When an AI guy was landing before, his wake effect gets simulated for some time and does the thing you are describing to your plane. As you report that it happens when landing only and not the whole time in flight, a general error might get ruled out. So your plane works until trying to land, right?Maybe you want to add some details then to help the fellow members help you.

Never really know what information to include so...addons:Active Sky EvolutionFspassengersCarenado PA32UTXGEFsGlobalAdd on Airport EGCC TrackIRPC Specs:Intel I7 980x (4.0Ghz)24Gb DDR3ATI 6970HSDL SSD 256GbAsus Extreme BoardWindows 7 - 64 BitHope that helps...i'll try the wake turbulance setting.Sorry for the lack of information and thank you for your helpThanks Ian R Tyldesley
December 30, 201015 yr It's a wake turbulence problem, either lower the setting in the fsx.cfg file like the active sky readme's suggest, or disable it completely in a registered version of fsuipc which is what I do.
December 30, 201015 yr I am very sorry, it is a bad title, but frankly imagination was never my strong point and it does describe the situation; well better than my other idea...'Look Boobs!' That's a good one though .. anybody tried it so far on Avsim? I think that even the mods will be distracted at first. Don't worry, I was just joking about the title because it's very generic. But anyway, you delivered some answers and data, so everything is fine on my side. The wake effect can be reduced (no need to turn it off) in Active Sky itself, even inflight. Try "Options", then "Wind Options" and adjust the strength a bit down on the first slider ("Wake Turbulence Strength"). I've found the default value there to be too high (for me) too. Also check the thing 413X3 mentioned (the Active Sky manual and readme) to adjust the "TurbulenceScale" setting in the fsx.cfg. That's an overall setting, not just wake specific though.I personally applaud to the fact that such things get simulated by Active Sky. This thing also is size depended from my experience so far, so the small Piper won't affect the 747 much but the other way around, it certainly means trouble.Of course, the whole thing has a simulation based origin and doesn't mean that it's 100% realistic in the actual feeling. But you and your ATC are forced to keep separation and that's a realistic touch, isn't it?
December 30, 201015 yr Author Again thank you all for your help. I haven't had chance yet to test, but suspect that you are right. It's a nice touch of realism, however the ATC in FSX is terrible, and the wake effect seems to last too long. I have turned the effect down from 80& to 5%. It also makes sense as i am only flying light aircraft at the moment as i have started again in FSPax.Thanks Ian R Tyldesley
