October 30, 200322 yr I'm thinking of buying either CH Flight Sim Yoke DLX or a less expensive Joystick. Is the Yoke worth the money? I have heard that it has some problems with yoke being stuck and not moving smoothly. How serious is this? I think it will be much easier to fly the planes with a yoke instead of conventional joystick, especia
October 30, 200322 yr DLX???? I am not aware of this model, is it new?I know of two models the CH Flight Yoke USB and the CH Flight Yoke LE USB, LE standing for "Lite Edition". It lacks the propeller pitch and mixture controls.Perhaps you mean the LE model?
October 30, 200322 yr Hi JFRII now use the CH Yoke USB LE (got it used at eBay for $80.00)and use it with FS2002 & FS2004 with no problems. I was using Microsofts Force Feedback Joystick, which works great also. With the yoke I can fly using my left hand to work the yoke and my right hand for the mouse & keyboard or hold a beer. With the yoke I don't get the force feedback feel, but I couldn't really feel it in FS2004 anyway (may not have had the settings set right?)The yoke does seem a little sticky when pushing it for a nose down or pulling it for a nose up move but I put a little silicone lub on the shaft and it is smooth now. It mounts to the desk top with 2 big knobbed thumb screws, real easy to move.I'd say check out ebay for some, if $80.00 is ok. The force feedback stick was $100.00 new.Hope this helpsDanny :-beerchug
October 30, 200322 yr Author Hi,I saw your comment about silicone, and I highly recommend you don't use it. Instead go to any hobby store that sells Pinewood derby cars for Cub Scoouts, and ask for Dry Graphite. Works like a charm. It is called Hob-E-Lube, Dry Graphite Lubricant with Molybdenum. Good for metal, wood, plastic, and rubber. In other words, it won't damage your yoke. Silicone will over time.Regards,Joe http://aboutpolitics.net/images/bannerav.gif.About Politics.net - FORUMShttp://pub207.ezboard.com/bpoliticsgivemel...tyorgivemedeath.Contribute to the Richard Harvey Scholarship Fund.http://www.avsim.com/pages/scholarship.shtml CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
October 30, 200322 yr No I don't mean the LE model but the most expensive and I don't know what DLX stands for. The shop listed it as DLX.
October 30, 200322 yr >using Microsofts Force Feedback Joystick, which works great>also.>I was using MS Sidewinder Prec 2 which has ceased to function(throttle) that is why I need to buy something new.Regarding forcefeedback I have heard that it does not function well with MS FS. October 30, 200322 yr >other words, it won't damage your yoke. Silicone will over>time.>How can silicon damage the Yoke? In what way?
October 30, 200322 yr As a RW pilot/instructor I can say that it's worth it to get a yoke. Don't know how I ever flew without it. Now it's time for pedals...IMO the quality of CH is just fine. The position of the levers is a awkward, but they work fine.
October 30, 200322 yr Author I should have stated Petroleum based, not Silicone. I apologize.I have always used Hob-E-Lub, and it has always worked. Silicone should be ok, as long as it does not have petroleum distillates in it.I also remember some saying NO WD-40 either as it is a solvent. So Silicone should be fine. Sorry for the Mixup.Regards,Joe CryptoSonar on Twitch & YouTube.
