November 1, 200322 yr Did your TwinX run OK? Mine was DOA! The flaw was hidden, so it took a while to figure out the problem and ended up wasting most of a weekend just getting the o/s loaded!Intel just reduced chip prices last week. Looks like you can get a 3.0/800/retail for $275, but the 3.2 is still up at $399. Not worth it when you should be able to o/c the 3.0 to whatever you need.I haven't been following the o/c crowd too closely, but how high have people been able to get the 3.2 w/o special cooling? I'm stabile at ~3.3 with my 2.8 with zero voltage bump. What does that Rockethead converter do for you? It doesn't look like you've run out of IDE channels and if you did, couldn't you just run those devices through the VIA RAID ports?
November 1, 200322 yr My TwinX has been great, no problems at all. I am running it very agressive, at 2-2-2-5. Course the memeory isn't running at high speed with the celerons lower FSB. My system has been very stable and I am very pleased at the performance considering it was pretty inexpensive. As funds permit I can upgrade the CPU and video.I actually am not sure how much headroom there has been on the 3.0 and 3.2GHz cpu's. I will look into that further as it gets closer to feb, at that time 3.0GHz will be around $220 and $270 for 3.2GHZ. Then of course the new Prescott cores may finally be available by then. Supposedly the P4P800 will be capable of using them. I'll wait and see how things shake out and make a decision then.I have always put my CD drives on seperate channels of the IDE controllers, this has helped to burn faster and more reliably. I don't like having a hard drive on the same controllers with the CD drives. I have the non deluxe version of the P4P800 so it doesn't have the Via RAID ports installed. (after dealing with the data corruption issues with the older Via kt133A chipsets I didn't want the Via on my board, even though it's probably not an isssue)So that is why I am using the Sata. On the plus side since the drive is ATA 133 I may get a small increase in performance versus the intel ide channels that only support ata 100.

How did you solve it?I'm on a MSI Neo board (HT) with 800FSB, 2x 512 3,3,3 3200 RAM and a 3Ghz Intel. Best regards,Roger
November 10, 200322 yr Hi Scott,I have 1GB of RAM, and I regularly see RAM usage around 700MB or so, and I also noticed a performance increase in smoothness. However, this information may not be very useful, as Windows will be in no hurry to purge unneeded files from the memory, if there's enough space available, so I don't know how much was actually used. Second, putting in another stick enabled the dual channel technology on my mobo, which would account for the performance boost.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
