Hi all,Hard question to answer as their are so many variables - but what would be the average fuel burn per hour (in Kg's) in a 737-800 ?

We Ball Park 2200Kg's per hour for calculation, but that is a little on the high side. however i think you would agree that more fuel is better than not enough fuel!Tawanda

As my flight instructor used to say, "The only time an airplane can have too much fuel onboard is when it's on fire."

Well said, any airline that just fills the tanks every flight isnt going to last very long. 4500LBs a hour is a good ballpark figure, plus reserves, contingency, alternate. You just burning more fuel by hauling more fuel. Unless its a short leg to a place where fuel can be a bit more expensive or scarce, then its a good idea to tanker fuel inbound for the outbound leg. But things like that are why airlines have high dollar flight planning systems, to calculate things like that.
