Hi,As per my other thread im going to be buying a decent system on tuesday (i5 2500k etc etc) and am thinking of which display to go for. Out of the following , which would you think would give me the best results?

  1. 3x 24" 1920x1080p monitors
  2. 42/50" plasma tv
  3. 42/50" lcd tv
  4. 1080p projector running at 1920x1080p
  5. 27" 2560x1440 monitor

They are all going to cost similar money so cost doesnt come into it.Must admit the thought of a big 100"+ projectoed image sounds mint to me but will it be good being that big if its 1920x1080p?Matt

Large TVs do not make good monitors. The resolution/dot pitch are too low. Take it from someone that used to use their 42" plasma as a monitor. Image quality is superb, but it's really hard to focus well on a screen of this size IMHO. Your option 5 sounds the best to me.

I'm just curious how long ago you tried this (age of the tv)? I got a 37" 120Hz Panasonic LED LCD TV for Christmas for use as a regular TV. I noticed it has both HDMI and a SVGA connector so I hooked up my wife's laptop to it. It has a "PC/Game" mode setting whereby you can manually adjust the Horizontal and Vertical freqs in the advanced sub-menues. But I didn't even need to do that using the HDMI connection - it acted like an extended desktop with no focus issue noted. I haven't tried it on my FSX rig (too far away) but I beleive it would work fine.

YMMV, 37" is borderline and may be fine for you. I found 42" to be too large but not by a huge amount.
