January 18, 201115 yr Hi all, Have been using FS9 for a long time and it runs just fine on my current system. However recently used nvidia inspector to up my AA from 8X AA to 8X+S, must admit the graphics have never looked so good, but add in a few clouds and frames drop from 30+ in vc (level-D, PMDG etc)to high teens at best, mid teens normally at UK2000 scenery. When AA was at 8XAA I never experienced this problem.Question is would an upgrade to a new generation graphics card improve thingsor is this an FS9 coding issue. Thanks in advance, arthur.System Specs: Asus P5K,Intel E6750 OCd to 3.2G,8800GT graphics, 2GB ram
January 18, 201115 yr I had an 8800GT and it didn't cope with 8xS in dense clouds. Then I upgraded to my current GTX285 and it handles 8xS no matter how dense the clouds are.But now I'd like to use 8xSQ, which eliminates almost all shimmering, but the card isn't quite up to it. Same situation in dense clouds :(Would be interesting to know for sure what is required to run 8xSQ in dense clouds without frame drop. Is a GTX460 enough?
January 18, 201115 yr If you get Pablo Diaz's clouds from avsim hdev2.zip here you can adjust your system to run with clouds of varying definition.Clouds are frame rate killers on all but a few machines.vololiberista Super VC10 into LOWI with PF3 at a cinema near you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=298UDyNmgUA
