Saitek yoke an throttles

Featured Replies

I post because I just can't figure these out...I've searched and google'd till I can't read anymore! Here's the deal...Windows 7 64bit AMD Phenom II X6 MSI 890GXM-658 Gig of ram EVGA N580GTX 1.5 GigFSX and Acceleration..... The culprits...The Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System...Saitek Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant...No matter what I've tried I can not get a set up of Throttle-Throttle/Prop-Prop/Mixture-Mixture like you would find in a real world twin! The yoke system throttle is first IE. Throttle-Throttle/ Prop (1)...and the add on Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant is to the right of that Prop (2) Mixture-Mixture.I can not get the Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant to match up on any of the travels? Mixture 1 will move from full to half as soon as I move it towards lean? Mixture 2 works fine!Prop 2 on the Pro Flight Throttle Quadrant is the same way?I've tried FSuipc4 and FSX adjustments...the software that comes with the Saitek stuff is a total adventure in frustration! What am I missing...seriously...I can't be that dumb...as to not be able to fix this?Any help would be great...I've waited a long time to get this system built and now to be stonewalled by some thing this simple!...Arrrrggghhh!Jeff

Hi,Read this:http://www.tropicairvirtual.com/company/misc/utility/tutorial/fsuipc-guide-v1.pdfIt applies to the saitek stuff as well.By the way, did you disable the commands in FSX? It is either FSX or FSUIPC, not both. Forget about the saitek software.Good luck, it works perfectly for me, it should work for you too.

Here is my method. YMMV:1. Remove any Saitek drivers and software. If you have calibration problems, you can also try deleting the calibration data out of the registry, but since this is a "registry hack" I don't recommend doing it unless you need to/have experience with registry mods.2. Use the stock Windows devices and printers applet for both controllers to do the basic calibration. I check the "raw data" box which shows your axis inputs in a range of 0-1023 for the yoke and 0-255 for the levers. Using the raw data for guidance do the calibration wizard. The one difficulty is that for the throttle, the calibration assumes that the first two levers are part of a "joystick" that center. When asked to center, move both levers so the raw data show 127. I've not had any problem getting the "top" and "bottom" calibrations to go to 0 and 255.3. Now start FSX. Go into the settings/controls menu. Set the axis sensitivity to full and the null to none for all axis on both controllers. Next go to axis assignments and remove all assignments for both controllers for both normal and slew modes. While you are at it I recommend removing all button assignments as well, except if you want leave the hat / POV switch assigned.4. Now open fsuipc on the axis assignment tab. I recommend using the "aircraft specific" option. (By default, aircraft specific only works on the texture paint you have loaded. To have the assignments work for all repaints you have to text edit the fsuipc4.ini file line ShortAircraftNameOk=Yes, then edit the sections in the ini file for your aircraft so only the first part of the aircraft title is used.) follow the fsuipc manual on how to get the correct axis recognized by fsuipc, then just use the "send as FS axis" option and in the first box pulldown list find axis_throttle1_set, axis_throttle2_set, axis_prop1_set, axis_prop2_set, axis_mixture1_set, axis_mixture2_set. Then go to the calibration page and ensure that you see the input values are changing for the 6 levers. If your aircraft has a reverse prop feature, I recommend setting a small "null" zone at the bottom of the 2 throttle levers, and then using the fsuipc button assignment feature to set the decrease throttle1 and decrease throttle2 (with repeats) when you pull the lever back into the button (i.e., all the way back in the red zone). In this method, when you pull the lever all the way back, the prop will go into reverse. As long as you hold it back it will increase until it reaches max reverse. When you move the lever back to idle the reverse will hold at its current level. To get out of reverse just advance the lever out of the null zone and back. Note: when setting the null zone, it is almost impossible to get both levers the same, so when you are done open fsuipc4.ini, find the setting, and set the value identical for both axis. You can use the same process for your props and mixture of calibrating the axis and setting the "decrease", for prop that should give you feather (if available) and for mixture should give you cut-off. Test you levers on the fsuipc axis calibration page to see that everything is working right, then give it a shot with the aircraft in the sim.5. There are other ways to deal with reverse throttles, but given the design of the Saitek with the button pressed when you pull the lever back, I like the method I use.scott s..

Thanks guys...I was doing well with 'Yankeegolf's" PDF....I had the mixture set and working perfectly for the #1 and #2 engine..so I moved on to the #2prop!Until the realization that...I had not changed to the "Prop" box in the set up!...I was still in the mixtures...so I gave up and figured I would start fresh today.Jeff
