Which Operating System are you using - XP, Vista or Win 7 ? If either of the latter, there are some special considerations.

Install FS9, download the one SP for FS04, place it in your FS9 folder and patch to FS9.1.If on Vista/Win 7 keep things out of the Program Files folder.

I keep seeing this advice in various forums and various threads and cannot understand why as I have FS9, patched to V9.1, installed in C:\Program Files and it runs without any problems at all.David

Yes, it will likely "run" without major issues - it is when you try to edit items, and/or add other things such as utilities or scenery or aircraft, where you quickly run up against the cumbersome "permission" issues in both Vista and Win 7. It is not a problem under XP.Installing FS somewhere other than under "Program files" will help avoid a large part of the "permission and security" problems.
