Speedstep Setting For 2600k Overclock?

Featured Replies

Have got what seems to be a stable overclock of my SandyBridge at 4.8 GHZ with an ASUS P67 Sabertooth. Was just wondering if I should have the speedstep setting active. Just built the system for FSX and wasn't sure if performance would fluctuate if the chip isn't at a constant speed all of the time.ThanksSteve G

I have Speedstep on. I believe it allows the CPU throttle back at low load. If you use Offset Voltage rather than a fixed voltage as well then you are not continually exposing the chip to high volts. Mine runs at 0.985 volts and 1600Mhz most of the time. 4.8 at full load.
