Aircraft land off the runway

Hello again Martin,PM me your Email address, I've got something for you to test. (I can't test it myself since I don't have FlyTampa's Dubai scenery.) As far as I can tell it should fix your problem.Best regards,Mel

Thanks for sending me your replacement FT-OMDB AFCAD, Mel. I removed the current one and put yours into the OMDB/scenery folder, then restored the original AP962230.bgl file. Double-checked I had no other AFCADs for OMDB and started up a flight at Runway 12L. Unfortunately, I am back to the cockpit PFD only showing the ILS centred when I am way off in the grass. The same for Rwy 30R. Rwy 12R is spot on, but 30L is off (though not so far - ILS is centred when I am halfway between the centre line and the runway edge.I then removed all other addon sceneries I have from the scenery.cfg file, so that I only have the default 'out-of-the-box' FS9 scenery.cfg, plus the OMDB scenery active. And now the ILS is fine! Even if I restore the FlyTampa AFCAD (with default AP file of course), things are still OK. So clearly, after all this, it must be some other scenery that I have installed which is interfering with the OMDB setup. Out of curiosity I might try to track down what it is - I'll have to restore sceneries bit by bit until I find the culprit... will post back. Thanks again for the help,Martin

There is clearly something very odd going on here - as I was trying to troubleshoot this, narrowing down which folders and then files may be involved, I had got down to a group of ten 3rd. party scenery entries in scenery.cfg, the problem at OMDB disappeared. But a little later, trying to narrow down the ten to one, removing the same ten sceneries did not fix the problem. This has happened twice now, with different scenery groups removed from the scenery.cfg file. In other words, removing certain sceneries from FS9 on one occasion fixes the ILS problem at OMDB, but 15 minutes later removing the same sceneries has no effect. Given that you have to shut down FS9 and reload it after every change made, this could go on for days!So I am going to have to leave things as they were - with my 'doctored' AP bgl file and the default OMDB AFCAD things work fine. I thought it would be interesting to see what was causing the problem, but with FS9 'changing its mind' from one moment to the next in this way I am going to have to give up. As long as I can fly in and out of OMDB with ILS aligned properly to the runways, that's all that counts..Martin

I just got back in town. I have read the entire post again and at this point I will have to admit that I have few really valid ideas. I will however mention a couple of thoughts ( calling them thoughts may be a bit generous ). One would be that you have a corrupted AP.numxxxx file somewhere and FS9 or W7 handles the corruption or error slightly differently each time it is loaded. The last, and this is a long shot a best, a messed up exclusion file that has been installed into the FS9/scenery/ ? ? ? / somewhere. How to find either is naturally going to be a job assuming either are the problem. If the problem were caused by a file in the Flytampa scenery I am sure there would have been other reports of that. Last, I use Windows XP so I can not offer anything based on experience with Windows 7 but I have read of FS9 installation issues. You have probably already dealt with all of that but I thought I would bring it up anyway.Regards,Mel
