gateway IP address blank at startup

Featured Replies

I run two Windows 7x64 machines with static IP address fed by a Netgear router. When I start the remote machine to FSX, the internet connection always fails. When I check the IPV4 properties for the network connector, the gateway IP address is always blank. Once I enter the Netgear router's address, all is well until I shutdown and restart at which point the gateway IP address will be blank once again.Any reason why the IP address will not remain?

I was hoping someone who knew more than me could help you. Think about this and see if it fits your problem. At one point I was messing with streaming video over a closed network. The host computer had to have a static IP and the router had to have port forwarding activated. The instructions for the setup described how to set up a static IP, or I could download a piece of software to do that. I got the software (called Port Forward Setup Static IP Address). Worked like a charm, and the computer never lost the IP address. It is from a website all about routing.Bob

You mean the router is loosing settings ? you can Port forward in the router it self. By default your router is NATting . Port forward is used to forward a specific port to an internal machine e.g. external hit on port 25 (smtp) can be forwarded to your internal machine like port 35 or any port you need , specify the protocols too like TCP or UDP .

Brad also posted in the simflight forum and this was solved. It is a known bug since Vista service pack 2, Basically, a blank line is ( wrongly ) inserted into the registry, with the correct entry below it. This blank line just has to be removed, As the first ( empty ) default gateway entry is loaded at startup. See link above; Ron.
