Hi all I am new user of PMDG MD 11 and altthough heaving studied carefully the manual - principally the FMS page I still did not succed yet in resolving the following problems1. When entering into the MCDU the flight plan and then going to SID and STAR Isucced in getting these inserted but I always sget then a " Route discontinuity " to the next waypoint after the last fix of the SID same happens with STAR after inserted.2. I tried to solve the problem by using the DIR INTC knob but even this does not work even when using the TRK3. I insert as FL 340 the MCDU gives me i.e. LV 395 instead as TC and simoultaneously the emssage FL exceed max FL 4. How can I control Speed and DESCENT manually resp. how can I switch of th AP ? When switching of the AP I get the voice message " Autopilot " all the time even aftger engine shut down at the gate I manage to land the AC manually on vbisual approach5.The ACdoes not accept the descent rate as indicated in the MCDU when reaching TD but keeps on same FL and at same speed. When I switch off AP ..... see question 4 6. How can I insert new waypoints in the MCDU when instructed by ASTC to fly drct Waypoint " X " which is not in the original Flightplan. I tried but the I get angain the message " route discontinuity " Sorry for asking this lot of question I did not find however the answers in the manual part which deals with the FMS.Thanks for any information which helps.Best regards from GermanyW.P.Zeplin'

Despite your claim of reading the manuals, I would say you might need another run though them, or at least a run through the tutorial:1 - You press the CLR button, then click on the line select key for the discontinuity (or make sure your flight plan uses a fix at the end of a SID).2 - Read up on the DIR INTC function in the FMS guide, it sounds like you are not understanding its application fully3 - The altitudes are entered in three digit number format only, on the INIT page. FL340 should be entered as 340. It looks like you're entering the information incorrectly or in the wrong place.4 - With the MD-11, you really don't ever take the autopilot and autothrottle system off unless you really need to. Instead, make the proper adjustments on the FMS descent page. In order to avoid the "AUTOPILOT" call, assign a "soft disconnect" button through the PMDG Key Assignments option - you will need to press this button twice: once to disengage, and once again to tell the system you did it intentionally.5 - Sounds like you need to change the altitude on the MCP (the altitude displayed on the "autopilot controls" on the glareshield. The FMS will not command a descent unless you "allow" it by selecting a lower altitude on the MCP.6 - Route discontinuity is not an error. Entering a new waypoint is entirely situation-dependent, but if ATC says "proceed direct [fix not on flightplan]," you can use the DIR INTC function (read up on it in the FMS guide). If you got the waypoint in, which it sounds like you have, and you have a route discontinuity (which would make sense, since the fix isn't on your flight plan, and you placed a break in the route by inserting a new fix between to existing fixes).

Thanks a lot I studied the manuals again with your comments and I figured out some details already alone. But it was very helpful to get the confirmatio from your comments.
