February 26, 201115 yr I posted about this sometime ago. After upgrading for an Saitek X52 pro and pro pedal I can't keep the AP engaged in the Jet Stream anymore.Even with an enormous dead zone on my X rotative ( the elevator trim) the AP keeps disengaging. It is the only plane wich does such a thing.I watch in the saitek control panel and saw a micro mouvement on the two rotatives but nothing that can affect any plane behaviour on IL2, ROF or FSX.You can see it on the control panel but you don't feel it at all.Anyway, you can't fly with large dead zone on every axe in FSX. For exemple the elevator trim just don't react anymore. The problem is on the AP not on the hardware.I had to give up with the jet stream, and for a 40 euro plane it's absolutly desapointing. Why did you make the AP so reactive ?For the moment I'm flying on the Antonov 32 (Tim Conrad), a 0 euro plane that works perfectly...Loic
February 26, 201115 yr Commercial Member You're awfully accusatory for someone who hasn't even pinned the problem on someone else, for sure. To be honest, at the core, a human is less likely to offer assistance is he or she feels accused, or the person is trying to pin the blame on anyone else. Just a little psychology for ya...Regardless, I'll attempt to help you out, despite my irritation at your insinuations. The problem is likely the flight stick, despite your claim that it's not a hardware issue. If the problem began occurring when you began using the new hardware, why are you venting here about the aircraft? Perhaps your battle is better fought with Saitek, if the only change between then and now was the stick. Furthermore, if I recall correctly, PMDG's J41 uses the FSX native AP logic, so the idea that it's their system causing the problem is further from the truth in that case.As I think I posted in your thread earlier, make sure your trim is neutral before engaging the AP. If your trim is not neutral (I use the index finger wheel on my X-45 throttle), the AP will instantly kick off, or will oscillate until it finally kicks off because there are conflicting signals (AP versus trim wheel). Again, make sure it is neutral (which you can feel, when rotating, as it will settle into the detent). It not making any movements outside of neutral doesn't mean a thing. My X-45 works just fine with the J-41 and I have no issues. Kyle Rodgers
February 26, 201115 yr Loic, First of all we have a rule of full names here, otherwise expect moderators to delete your post when they'll see it unsigned.Secondly, what do you use for weather? Do you have ASE DWC or at least registered FSUIPC to smooth wind shifts? If your're using default weather it might be those wind shifts disconnecting your AP. I'm flying J41 for over a year now with Logitech G940 with dead zones set to ZERO. This is one of the most sensitive joystick on the market, and I never had any problems with disconnecting AP.My suggestions:Sign your posts.Check your weather, set ASE to WDC (if you have it), or enable wind smoothing in FSUIPC (if you have it).Check your hardware separately: disconnect pedals and make test flight, disconnect joystick and make another test flight etc. This way you will determine which device is responsible, if any.Regards,
February 26, 201115 yr Hello,That was my fist thread about this problem ( 20/01/2011).Hello,I've been using the J41 for a while now and I'm very satisfied with it, it's a very good product.I have recently upgrade my hardware with a saitek X52 pro+pro pedal+ throttle quadrant.I don't know if it has something to do with the fact that the auto pilot now keeps switching off as soon as I switch it on, or a little bit later.I use the IAS+VS mode to reach assigned altitude and HDG on too.I have my elevation trim on one of the two rotative off the saitek throttle. The rudder has the sensibility setted according to saitek's manual, rest of sensibilty is FSX default. What could be the reason of such behaviour ?Thank you very much.Loic As you can read it wasn't offensive or accusatory in any way.But (OOOOPS!) there was no full signature, I apology, I won't do that again.I repeat that I used to be very, very satisfied with the Jetsream, and in fact I used to fly it a lot, reading the manual and asking very few questions. It's easy to understand that I can be very disappointed not being able to fly it properly any more. I wrote my message late at night and was feeling very upset after one month messing with the problem without solving it.It wasn't my intention to hurt anybody. I apology again.:Peace:Be ware that I'm French (bad disease isn't it ?) and that I'm not so subtle when writing in English.I will try to trim the plane neutral as good as I can and see if it works.Thank you Loic Derrien :(
February 26, 201115 yr Oh, I see the problem now! It's probably those trims IMHO. I have assigned my trims to buttons instead of wheels, because when AP sets trim, the value set on wheel will override that setting, causing AP to disconnect. EDIT:By wheels I mean all those rotative things placed on our joysticks
February 26, 201115 yr So I finaly decided to put the trim on the throttle's hat.IMHO the trim should be on a rotative, so that you can find easely the neutral. On the hat it's a bit harder to find. But it's better then not to fly the JT41I think everything is OK now.
February 26, 201115 yr Well... If you can afford joystick with moving wheel trims then, yea it should But since it's just pot when you set your trim to for example 0deg and autopilot sets it to 5deg there is conflict, because pot is still set to 0deg, it cannot be other way. You can assign only those trims to pots, which are not being set by AP. I hope this makes any sense Regards,
