POSKY 777 VC Gauges problem

Featured Replies

Hi all!I downloaded POSKY's AWESOME 777 many moons ago. Just now, I opened an IFR flight plan from KSFO to KLAX and fired the 777 up. However, when I looked in the VC, the gauges are blank--absolutely nothing is showing. The weird thing is that the panel is normal--when I checked the VC panels using CFGEdit, the gauges were aliased to the default 777, as was the panel. Both the panel and VC were aliased to the same gauges (default 777), but the VC's gauges wouldn't show. Even the Electronic Flight Bag won't show. :( Could someone please help? I can understand why the FSX POSKY 777 wouldn't work, but why the FS2004 version?Attached are some pictures that could be of some help.

I checked in the POSKY file library, per the help thread's suggestions, but all the models they have are for FSX now. :( The VC textures themselves seem to be untouched--it's the gauges that don't work. Considering that the VC section in the cfg has the default 777 gauges already coded in, I don't know why the gauges aren't showing. Just for the sake of shedding some more light on the problem, here's a section of my panel.cfg, main panel and VC views. Any of you computer geniuses on Avsim can read this and diagnose the problem?// Panel Configuration File// Boeing 777-300// Copyright © 1999-2003 Microsoft Corporation. Try following the instructions here: http://www.freeskypr...irtual-cockpit/. Failing that, ask in the FSPro (Posky successor) forums: http://www.freeskypr...-support-forum/. But be polite and patient: some of the folks over there can be a bit twitchy...

Me neither... does the VC in the default 777 still work? But maybe try downloading & installing this: http://www.freeskyproject.com/files/file/739-xml-glass-gauges-for-777/.BTW FsPro (ex Posky) are very anti-FSX. All of their aircraft are for FS9; some have been adapted for FSX, but if you were to go over there and accuse them (as they'd see it) of making a/c only for FSX the response would be unprintable. Seriously, if this download doesn't work, ask nicely on their support forum and chances are someone'll know.

Strange. I installed the xml gauges, waited about 2 seconds for it to load, and now the only gauges that work are the chronometer (or is that the AoA gauge?) and the artificial horizon. :blink:Any other fixes?

How do you get the pictures to show up on the post like that?

Yup! It's working alright! It takes about 2 seconds to load (the outside textures take around 5 seconds), but otherwise it's great! Thanks guys! :smile:BTW, is there any way to make the textures load faster? :(

Yes, use DXTBmp to convert them to DXT3.Jim

The last time I checked, the 777 folder has 83 files. Is there any way I can "mass-convert" all of those files at once? Or do I have to plug in and convert each file one at a time? And BTW, what does converting to DXT3 do for your performance? I'm a complete computer noob, so I have no idea what the differences in file types are.

Yes, use DXTBmp to convert them to DXT3.Jim

What you need is ConvImX which is available from the maker of DXTBmp. Go here, find ConvImX in the list and click the little yellow dot next to it (I think it's supposed to be sort of inconspicuous):http://www.btinternet.com/~mnwright/beta.htmI think you'll like the result performance wise, you'll lose a little quality but for me it's hard to see a difference. I'd make a backup or have the original download on hand in case some of the textures don't take well to being DXT3d, your VC night textures might behave oddly or something for example, with backups you'll be able to put the originals back in if desired.Jim

Convlmx says I can convert to Extended Bitmap, DDS, PNG, TIF and Targa (?). PNG, TIF and Targa are all 32 bit with alpha. Which format should I convert the files to? They don't have a "DXT3" choice
