Ronzie do you have any idea when the new version of Radar Contact will be coming out? I have one heck of a time finding my way around some of the bigger airports, and I heard that the new version was going to address that problem.

RC5 will not be released in the near future. It has a long way to go.There are a number of sources for airport charts. You have FSC which will provide taxiway charts as:http://www.fscommander.com/images/FSC9_EDDK_large.jpgFor take-off the current RC version will show a bearing to the threshold of the assigned runway. No guidance is available for your desired gate.FSC is also stated to show AI on the airport I believe. I'm not sure if it shows the user plane. Before flying in the RC flight setup on the controller page you can set up a designated gate which RC will pronounce. It does not give you taxi guidance for arrival. If you want to keep a gate vacant you can modify the airport afcad file preferably with freeware ADE9X or payware AFX and shrink the gate or parking space radius (it will not visually show) to a very small amount so AI will not fill it. Make a notation of that gate on your airport chart and set that as your designated gate.I don't know if FSC's map feature will orient itself to your arrival runway but if it does you can figure out your path. Another idea I use is to switch FS to overhead view as soon as I exit the runway on an unfamiliar airport. I got used to that.A dual monitor setup is installed by many users so that various views and charts are available on the second monitor. With the low prices on second monitors these days and video cards providing dual outputs you could have FSC maps running on a second monitor.

I can vouch for FSC on a second monitor to navigate on airports. Problem is: it encourages cheating! It is so precise that I can navigate the taxiways just by monitoring my a/c icon on FSC - no need to stick my neck out the window to look for taxiway signs. Word of caution: the airport scenery must be in the FS root directory (e.g. Addon scenery folder) or FSC will display the stock airport while you taxi on your add-on scenery, hence a sometimes significant mismatch. And yes, it does show AI and on-line participants as well, with ID tags.Phil
