March 3, 201115 yr Hi, I'm running FSX on my system, i'm wondering how i can improve the frame rates without too much money being spent. I heard somewhere that ram is the key to getting a smoother game on FSX? Not sure if that's true. like others on this forum, I am able to play state of the art game titles with near enough no stuttering, so i'm not sure what's the case with FSX. I'm not really a computer expert so i'm not sure what's exactly relevant, but i currently have,AMD Phenom 9650 Quad Core 2.30GHz4GB RAM (3.12GB usable)500GB Hard DriveNVIDIA GeForce GT 240Any help would be greatly appreciated, ThanksAlril40

Maybe purchase a 4xx card depending on your power supply. The processor is very weak as well but you could give it a mild overclock to 3.x GHz and get a little boost. Other wise, slide all of the settings to the left. Also: http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 3, 201115 yr Suggest you read some of the posts on this forum...The simple answer to your question is that you need a new, faster systemto run FSX well.3+ GHz quad core Intel processor (4+ GHz is better) on a fast motherboardwith enough power to drive a 150W+ video card, current vintage: nvidia 560 1 GB,and a 64 bit OS (Win 7). March 3, 201115 yr Author Thanks for the replys, so yeah, looks like i might have to upgrade my system. The processor is very weak as well but you could give it a mild overclock to 3.x GHz and get a little boost. For the meantime, would like to try this.. How is it possible to overclock the processor? Thanks,Alril40
March 3, 201115 yr For the meantime, would like to try this.. How is it possible to overclock the processor? Thanks,Alril40Well, that's where a ton of research on Google comes in. Start with searching for overclocking your specific processor. You'll have it in no time! The one thing you can probably invest in before upgrading other hardware is a better CPU cooler. That will allow a decent overclock until you start to upgrade other hardware. If you do it right, you'll be able to install the new cooler on your new CPU if/when you take that plunge. Again, research. Someone else can go into much more detail but it's best to search for the anwers on your own rather than relying on one forum.By the way, if it's a prebuilt system (ie Dell, HP, Gateway, etc.) an overclock will not be possible. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
