November 16, 200322 yr Anyone managed to get the wonderful new AN-24RV to do a coupled ILS approach? From reading the manual it should be do-able, but I can't seem to get the settings right on the various panels to get it to actually track the localiser and glideslope. I think I'm missing something simple with settings in the SPU or the overhead, and I'm specially lost on the use and functions of the Navigator panel. I'm guessing there nust be a detailed russian manual with much more info than the english translation, and there must be someone out there who can translate it !Allcott
November 16, 200322 yr I just hand fly her in. More fun :-)Gavin Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
November 16, 200322 yr True, true. But most of the fun of this old bus isn't hand-flying, it's learning the `new` instruments, practices and procedures. I think the aircraft should do a coupled approach, I just don't know how.Has anyone else noticed that Samdims quick fix for the guage problem on the Navigators station also costs you the instruments in the VC?Allcott
November 16, 200322 yr I havent even managed to get the engines started without ctrl+e yet. Nor managed to get the attitude indicator to wake up!Timhttp://www.spottedantelope.com/bwomack/ima...aam-sim_sig.gif
November 16, 200322 yr > Nor managed to get the attitude indicator to wake>up!>>>TimTim, Make sure all the switches (except the two at the very bottom) on the Shift 1 panel are ON, ie. in the up position. John
November 16, 200322 yr I am unable to tell if the VOR's are tunned in or not. It would be terriffic if someone could create a tutorial flight for this thing. I have read the manual, but for some reason it seems a bit incomplete. I really like the Antonov AN24, and the designers did a terrific job on the modeling, panels, etc., but for some reason the manual seems a bit incomplete. I have noticed everthing is in metric, so I can make the altitude and speed calulations fine, because FS will do that for you. But I cannot tell how the radio and systems equipment is supposed to work. Tracking is a real pain when trying to find and use the right gauge.Anymore help on the aircraft would be greatly appreciated.
November 17, 200322 yr To get atleast the RSBN/NAS-1 navigation panel to show up copy and paste this line to the (Window04) section of your AN-24 panel.cfg : gauge34=An-24Gau!Nas_RSBN Toggle, 542,60,50,50I have placed it at about the same spot on the Navigator's panel ( top/right above the RSBN Settings panel)as shown in the manual. Remember there are two hotspots, bottom for opening the NAS-1 panel, top for closing it.There's more missing but we'll get to the bottom of it somehow hopefully. What a magnificent package !! Tim : you've got that Horizon working now, right ? ;-) jan
November 17, 200322 yr You can check whether the VOR's are tuned by going to the overhead - if the green light on the frequency indicator is lit, they're on. I think, from reading the manual, that the sim can't recognise both VOR's at the same time, but I might be wrong. Therefore you have to select which VOR you want active by using the switches to the left of the overhead. Red Lights OFF mean a signal is being receivedAnd that's as far as I get with the VOR's!
