September 5, 201114 yr BTW, the answer is yes, you can change this. It requires that the runway have an ILS approach and then using ADE to move the FAF point of the ILS approach closer to the runway. Once an aircraft passes the FAF point FS shuts down the runway for crossing and for takeoffs. Hope this helps, A word of warning about this technique though... If the runway is both takeoff and landing, a really short FAF-threshold distance could result in AI being cleared onto the runway for takeoff and them still being there taking off when the user is on short final - leads to ATC calling a go-around! Geoff Go arounds as per ATC is for landing planes only. If Tower clears a plane for Takeoff that means the runway has not been locked yet or another way to look at it is the arriving plane has not reached the FAF point. If the departing plane is cleared for takeoff and then the arriving plane reaches the FAF no go around command will be given. When moving the FAF toward the runway threshold it is important to tweak the setting and test. If the FAF gets to close (about 3 NM) the departing plane will still be rolling on the runway when the arrival touches down. Tweaking the FAF will help find a setting so the departing plane can rotate and the landing plane will flair for touchdown at the same time.
