March 8, 201115 yr Hi all, I am currently saving for a new build for fsx and I am asking for advice as to which of the following HDD might improve performance in FSXHere is the list1. Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 64MB Cache 7,200RPM 6Gb/s2. Western Digital VelociRaptor 600GB 32MB Cache 10,000RPM 6Gb/sThanksPeter
March 8, 201115 yr The second one is abit faster but has a smaller cache and the first is slower but has more cache. I think they´re both the same but do you really need 2 TB? I would tend to the VelociRaptor. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h

March 9, 201115 yr Author Thanks for the help guys, I think I will go for the Vrap. now another question! If you had a choice for a processor which would you go for for an FSX machine1. Intel Core i7 990x2.Intel Core i7 2600K3. Intel Core i7 995x (Looking for when it is released)
March 9, 201115 yr Go with an SSD. They are faster and smoother and do benefit games.Go with the i7 2600K with a good water cooler like the Corsair H70 and OC to 5ghz. Use an Asus P8P67 (Latest Version) and the fastest ram with lowest timings that you can find.Don't forget to pair all this up with a gtx 580. Don't take shortcuts. You will be a happy simmer.I'm considering a new build or just dropping a 990x into my board. I'm still pricing everything out. MSFS
