FS.cfg and Reinstall

Featured Replies

Due to reinstalling winxp I am reinstalling FSX.I saved my fsx.cfg.Do I just use it for reference to make changes(Tweaks) in the new one or do I copy it and overwrite the new one? Also,I think the last time I reinstalled I just copied my backup scenery file with FSG mesh,my add on scenery file and my aircraft file over to new install and it worked. These are all files I installed manually in FSX so I don't think they have anything to do with the win registry.Am I correct on this? Thanks,Ron

Correctomundo, Ron. You can copy the new one(s) to a safe spot for future reference, and then just copy all of the old cfg files right over the new ones, and don't forget the LOGBOOK.BIN.

If you have changed any key mapping it would be useful to take a copy of your Controls file as well.

Geez,I forgot about the key assignments.I have my FSUIPC.ini but where is the controls file?Fortunately I have FSX on e drive and have not yet unistalled it.I backed up my fsx folder from documents and settings where fs.cfg. is.Is that where the controls file is?Thanks,Ron
