raising/lowering airports

Featured Replies

I have various addon terrain meshes, and have found a number of airports that are either way above the surrounding terrain, or deep in a trough and impossible to land on or take off from, except by heilcopter. Is there anyway that I can adjust the airport elevation to match the surrounding terrain, and if so how?

Before doing that, I would check with the real world chart to ensure the airport elevation is correct. If the airport elevation is correct with real world elevation data, I would contact the addon company who made the mesh and have them fix their end. You don't really want to mess with the elevation if it's correct.

Thanks guys, I shall do as suggested.

Another common problem with small airports that aren't well surveyed is that they are at the right elevation, but misplaced. Won't always show up with default mesh but once you improve the mesh, you see the problem. For example AK23 in Alaska is misplaced slightly, so looks like a hole in the mountain. Move it slightly east to proper location, and it now looks correct.scott s..

hmm, this looks interesting. It would be a big help in getting some of the overland airports working in FSX. I have found that while some are fine, others have issues like being buried a little in the ground.
