Problems with SB4 & voice

Featured Replies

Hi,I recently re-installed FSX from scratch as I wanted to change over to flying the B747-400 with FS2crew voice control.Re-installed everything including SB4, FS2crew voice & AES on Windows 7 64 bit professional.Everything sort of works but I now have a problem.Sometimes when FS2crew is selecting switches or buttons, it keeps opening up SB4 with some of the buttons keypresses going to SB4. As a result the second officer doesn't start engines in automatic, to name a few problems.More problematic is the fact I cannot get my microphone to work on-line using SB4. The mic is calibrated and works fine with FS2Crew but I cannot use it to speak with ATC online. I can still hear ATC but they cannot hear me.I cannot identify if it is SB4, FS2Crew or B747-400 that is causing the problems but would ask if anyone else has suffered this problem and has managed to rectify it.Any suggestions more than welcome.ThanksWillie G

Hi Willie,FS2Crew won't deliberately open the Squawkbox panel... it doesn't touch that area... I haven't used SB in ages, but is there a key assignment that it uses to open and close the SB window? Perhaps it's sharing the same key assignment used by FS2Crew when FS2Crew fires a keypress to flip a switch on the 747 panel? As for the mic issue, I don't know. We have a lot of Squawkbox users who have no complaints. I'd also ask the Squawkbox support forum about that one.Best,

Bryan,I use the TAB key to open SB and always have done. As you probably know I have been using the Level-D B767 with FS2crew voice for an eternity but just wanted to try something different and more up to date. Before I re-installed FSX I had tried voice with SB and the PMDG B747 and everything worked fine then. It seems that something has gone wrong while conducitng the re-installation, but having taken nearly a week to get everything back up and running I don't want to have to do it again!.So I'm hoping someone may have an answer. This has also been posted on PMDG and BAW websites for help. Thanks againWillie

Hi Willie,I suspect the 'tab' key assignment is the issue.Note the the LDS 767 has an SDK, so FS2Crew doesn't need to send 'key presses' to the simulation.Try re-assigning the Squawkbox key to something other than 'tab', and cross check it against the FS2Crew - PMDG key board assignments lists... I suspect that'll resolve the issue.Cheers,

Bryan, changing tab key has rectified some problems.I now suspect that my problem lies with being unable to calibrate the mic through SB, whjich is strange as I had it calibrated before.ThanksWillie
