March 24, 201115 yr Been a LONG time follower of this forum, but haven't posted much, so I thought I would pass some time before NGX release by posting a random topic about a plane that I love....feel free to add to it!http://boeing.mediaroom.com/index.php?s=43&item=1678Didn't know that Boeing had a 777 Performance Improvement Package. Kinda reminds me of the option on the MD-11 to have drooped ailerons (although the MD-11 PIP was developed to make the plane meet original perf specs. The 777 PIP is used to improve an already great plane). Anyone have info on what they mean by Ram Air system improvements? How is that improved? Through computer code?I know it's a long way away, but I am betting PMDG will model the drooped aileron option. I'm not even gonna ask them for an answer about the 777, however it is my favorite airliner of all time. Just hope I can fly all models from 777A to 77W!P.S. Did I mention that I LOVE this plane? ~William Genovese~
March 24, 201115 yr Try this link: http://www.boeing.com/commercial/aeromagazine/articles/qtr_03_09/pdfs/AERO_Q309_article02.pdfThe ram air system has to do with the intake doors which allow air for the two environment control packs. I believe this is just to cooling the packs and has nothing to do with cabin air, I could be wrong on that though. Branton Turner
March 25, 201115 yr Author I know what a ram air system is, just don't know what the article means by an improvement to it. ~William Genovese~
March 26, 201115 yr The RAM air exit Louvres are replaced / modified so the exiting air causes less vortices and therefore less drag. Regards, Frank van der Werff
March 26, 201115 yr Author Sorry sheepfu. Tried looking, but had to skim through it on my mobile cause I was with the girlfriend, who then complained about not giving her enough attention, so I had to stop reading. No harm intended ~William Genovese~
