One GTX580 for a 37" monitor

Featured Replies

Hey guys,Just wondered if anyone has any opinions on this. Curious if a single card will be able to handle a 37" lcd tv that has a max res of 1920x1080. Or would it be beneficial to run two in SLI. Disregard anything in my sig as this will be a total new build that will be completed this week. It will primarily be for FSX but I also play a few FPS games (call of duty, etc..) every once in a while. I've read that FSX doesn't benefit from SLI but will it actually decrease performance? Thanks for any thoughts.

A 580 is more that powerful enough to run at 1920x1080, I'm running Crysis 2 at 1920x1200 with V-sync on and at Extreme settings and the frame rate never budges off 60 fps, so it can handle FSX at your res with both hands tied behind its back :) You could probably easily run two screens at that res.

Cheers, Andy.

Thanks, Andy.I guess the resolution is what really matters and not the actual size of the display. That will save me a few hundred dollars :)

Ahhh yesss, Crysis 2. Been playing it since yesterday - awesome game!!!. On my GTX285 even (gonna get GTX580 this week), on graphics setting Advanced I think (one below max), I am getting 50fps almost all the time. In 1920x1200. Crysis 2 is not FSX :)But resolutionwise, GTX580 is more than enough.

My point being Word Not Allowed is that Crysis 2 pushes the 580 more than FSX ever has a hope of doing, the only down side with the 580 range of GPUs is that you cannot use all three display outputs at the same time i.e.only 2 can be used at once. Its a shame really as I'm sure its powerful enough to run three screens.

Oh yes, you are correct about that one! But its amazing how even my GTX285 can run Crysis2 very well...
