Gentlemen,I searched the Forum but couldn't get a solution to my problem.I run FSX on a W7 machine and a client PC with Windows XP and Wide FS. Wide FS runs perfectly with several programs. So connection is not an issue.I installed RC4 on the client PC only (not the FSX machine), ran it after having FSX loaded at the gate, clocks ticking and after I hit the START RC4 button, the program minimized, but worked. I could get the ATIS, requested the clearance, taxi, takeoff clearances and flew my flightplan, everything works fine, but the menu, where I can request a higher level or direct to is simply not there!Where can I find it or switch it on? I need it because I cannot find any commands for getting a higher level in the key commands menu. In the key commands menu I tried to hit the DISPLAY WINDOW key, but nothing happened. I redefined the key stroke to CTRL W, but after saving and restarting the FSX, it was the default key stroke again except of the CTRL!! Very strange...I cannot find any instruction, how exactly to install RC4 on a client PC. The only thing I could find, was on page 32 the instruction to run the makerwys.exe in the FSX folder (in my folder is no such file!) and to run the Rebuild Scenery DB button on the client PC. Is it important for getting the menu? I think it is important for having the RC synchronized with the add-on sceneries on my FS machine.Every hint would be extremely appreciated! Thanks very much!Regards,Stefan

In the links below I show how to get and install the latest FSUIPC and makerwys.exe. Since you installed RC on a client it did not install (it's outdated anyway) makerwys I believe in your FS folder. This is a little more expanded than the pinned topic at the forum head:------------------Get the base FSUIPC version from:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmland then the interim update version from the modules link on this page:http://forum.simflight.com/forum/142-download-links/From that same downloads link page under the Additional Programs link get the latest makerwys.exeFSUIPC now self installs initially based on your registry entry for your FS path. Check that with this free utility:FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB) from http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=libraryAfter getting FSUIPC installed and then makerwys.exe installed in your FS folder start RC and rebuild the scenery database. Note that an additional step is required if you have RC on a networked client to an FS host.If you have both an FSX and FS9 installation two RC4 folders were created. Be sure you have a shortcut for each RC version to its respective folder for each FS version. (VISTA and Win 7 users will want for each shortcut set in its advanced properties to run as admin.) Rebuild from within each RC version the scenery database.------------------Change altitude requests are not available in all phases of flight nor are direct-to's. Direct-to's if available are on the second page menu activated by the default 9 key if you have not changed it. If you miss a waypoint to avoid having to go back to get credit without RC requiring you to go back then choose the next menu page (9), the direct-to option, and page (9) if needed to your next checkpoint you want to use and key the number of the selection in. Remember that when RC assigns a new waypoint or states resume your own navigation that it is from your PRESENT POSITION direct to the commanded waypoint. You do not return to your planned path. Know how to do that if using autopilot routing. The key to show the RC ATC window is defined in FSUIPC, not FSX or RC keystrokes. The function in the FSUIPC function menu is still called something similar to 'adv. display toggle on-off'. If you want to to edit FSUIPC.ini directly (always back it up with a safe copy in a different folder) to use my choice CTRL-X add:AdvDisplayHotKey=88,10to the General section. I don't use wide FS so I'm not sure if this is correct but it should not hurt to try it and I think it goes into your FS host PC.In RC options display text is something else (for the hearing impaired) and will slow RC down. Also be sure Interact with AI is on and only AI Chatter, not Prerecorded Chatter, is also on for best performance.

RC resides on an XP machine and should not be sensitive to the vagaries of VISTA and Win 7 regarding security. Insure that your RC folder is not read only or more particularly the keyboard.dat folder. When you click Save after changing your keyboard configuration in the Keyboard Configuration menu of RC you should see brief disk activity. In the RC folder you can also check the properties of keyboard.dat to insure by date and time it was modified. When you do any configuration in RC be sure FS is not running, just RC. If you restart RC after saving does the keyboard configuration chart show the new definition?Just on a possibility is your Windows keyboard and language setup for the US version and standard PC keyboard configuration on both PC's the same?It looks like to troubleshoot this further you'll need to create a log file as described in the pinned topic in the forum head. As soon as RC is loaded click the Debug button. The carry on as usual loading the plan, starting FS and loading your flight, then starting RC. Continue your flight until the just after the problems occur. Alt-tab if necessary back to RC and Quit it. Then go into your RC folder and rename rcv4.log to rcv4-MMDDYY where MM is the month, DD is the day, and YY is the year so the next time you create a log this is not overwritten. Then you can zip it up and send it in if your problem has not been solved. The log will include when RC is waiting for a keystroke and what key presses it receives. The RC keyboard definition is a process local to RC and merely defines the the interpretation of keystroke codes sent or received via WideFS to the RC window and back to RC on the client. The Windows keyboard setup should be the same on both host and client.

i don't understand. you start rc, go to keyboard, and you can't change the key combinations?if you change the key combinations, you have to restart fs, for them to take affect on your next rc flight.if that isn't it, describe what you are trying to do.jd
