Installing the Seasonic 750 into the bottom of my corsair 650D case. Do I face the fan up (ie into the case, towards the mobo), or down? The reason I'm wondering is on the corsair case there's a small grill and filter than you can pull out the very bottom - this grill is directly beneath the PSU.At first glance I figured the psu fan would face into the case to suck air out - but perhaps if the fan faces down the psu will suck cooler air from the room into the psu, then out the back.A major factor is that my case will rest on the floor (carpeting), below my desk. It's not an option for me to put the case on a hardwood floor or desk.

The fan sucks cool air into the PSU and it should be mounted facing down. Can't you have it sit on a flat solid board instead of the carpet? Not only for better cooling and keeping it from sucking so much dust in, also for stability

I pointed the fan up to bring warmer air from the case to the outside. But I have many fans in there so my guess is it's probably pulling cool air out...Not sure if it's the right thing to do, but seems to be working.I guess Dario answered the question as I was replying...Going to have to move the PSU..

I won't have a plywood board at the moment but I could find one eventually!I will orientate it fan up (into case) thanks!

Well, I don't think you really need to change it if air is not very hot in that area.

In general, always thing of maximizing airflow throught the case. The PSU and video cards both blow air out, so if you have only one fan you want it to blow the air in (otherwise the fan just competes with the PSU and video card trying to get the air out). Now if you add 2 more fans, add one blowing the air in and the other out, and so on, and as dazz said, try and keep fans that blow air into the case as far off the floor/rug as possible, otherwise after a few months the inside of your PC case ends up looking like the inside of a used vacuum cleaner bag.Oh, and if your PC starts to hover, remove a fan or two :-)Cheers,- jahman.
