That´s possible, but actually I´m not that big a fan of Bojotes tweaks!HIGHMEMFIX is OK, but the rest...Thinking.gifI´m more for the balanced view from a former member here, Nick Needham, who is now not so active anymore about FSX, sadly..My current system is unstable with BP=0, Text Max Load etc., and when I return to Nick´s advice about Bufferpools etc. - the Sim is stable again. The problem is that the usual guys posting here - 6-7 folks - tend to think this is their forum only, and a newcomer can´t tell his opinion!Would SpiritFlyer use a Caviar Blue 500 Gb for FSX?Would Word Not Allowed and all the other usual posters?I really don´t think so!

You use a Caviar Black for FSX. If I broke into your house overnight, and swap it for a Caviar Blue, you would never even notice I did.And if you took the time to read about *******' tweaks and really try them, you would also know that BP=0 is no longer what he suggests. RejectThresholds provide nearly the same performance boost with no induced stability issuesEDIT: to the OP, sorry about all this. I'm pretty sure it's your settings. I get 30FPS in the MD11 in that same situationCan you please post your complete FSX and GPU settings?

Tor, take it easy.We do appreciate other people's opinion, at least I do!If you say BP=0 isn't working well for you, it's all ok! There are many others for who this tweak is not working well. As it has been mentioned many times, for this tweak to work well, you need a really REALLY balanaced system, and don't take it personally now, [email protected] and GTX 460 is not balanced. With BP=0, the GPU can't process what CPU is giving it, thus breaking your system with BP=0. A deeper understanding of bufferpools and reading Bojote's posts about it will reveal why.If you check Bojote's auto-tweaker, you will notice it doesn't automatically implement BP=0, but some other very neat tweaks, which simply make FSX work good. BP=0 is not one of them. One the other hand: my FSX is totally stable with BP=0, and my GPU doesn't even blink from what CPU is sending it... must be a difference between GTX460 and GTX580.Considering drive:I would not use that drive for FSX.Reason: it's too slow for loading of FSX.Though, the drive is enough to run FSX normally, without any FPS impact.Speed of the drive is only important when you are moving, so that textures get loaded or when you are loading the flight.See many different posts on SSDs, how they do *NOT* improve FPS in FSX over conventional 7200rpm drive? Now why is that do you think? :Thinking:It's true though that FSX gets more responsive with SSD or 10,000rpm drive, but the difference between Black or Blue is virtually non-existant when it comes to FSX. I've tried...And again, you are obviously new here, we do like opinions and discussions, but when you make a statement, be ready to discuss it and also to learn if you are wrong.

Damnit, you beat me for a minute! Touche though!EDIT: Dario, I certainly have not nearly similar performance with RejectThreshold compared to BP=0. With RT, almost like it's not even there.EDIT2: I "managed" to get 24fps (doesn't seem to get lower) at 31L of KJFK (FSDT). No Manhattan scenery installed. My "very" loaded settings (clouds 90, scenery extremely dense, autogen dense, no other AG tweaks in FSX), UTX, GEX, REX, LOD=8.5, TML=4096, 4096 clouds, Building Storms, PMDG747 VC and -30 zoom out...Wow, what a view though

Way too many random responses here lol!OP: what are your settings?Default or payware plane?Autogen and AI sliders?Any 3rd party addons? As an example, see my siggy, with default c172 VC @ .80 zoom, payware FSDT JFK scenery, no ai traffic, mostly right scenery I'm getting 30fps locked.AI traffic could be the main factor with your setup.

well to get back on topic, I played around with a few things in the cfg and in ntune but it didn't seem to change the anything.however, once i installed fsdt jfk, i noticed a decent jump in frames. odd? not at all. i havent installed any ai traffic addons yet, and the default traffic isnt rendered at gates in fsdt sceneries. therefore, it must be simply the traffic thats slowing me down. as i said before, im getting outstanding results everywhere else, 30+ even 40 consistently even over manhattan. at a scenery like flytampa tampa, default traffic was placed at gates and my computer was brought to its knees. but then again, that scenery can be too much, anyone have optimum settings for it? or should i just deselect all the optional features when I reinstall.the issue of various tweaks being used is irrelevant imo. if my frames are this good overall, maybe my system just isnt too fond of AI traffic. We'll see once I install UT2.. can anyone enlighten me as to its performance?my settings are completely maxed out btw, and i have tried dimming them down a little bit, but theres almost a pointlessly small performance gain that ill leave them at max.In reality, theres no such thing as having 30+ fps everywhere in fsx, although I'm close :D

if you have all your traffic sliders cranked to the right no wonder your frames will be low in big airports. Aiport vehicles are a big hit for example.Water should not be set higher than 2.x Low with your video card. Uncheck light bloom... those are the main frame killers

AI is also a killer on my system, that is why I'm not using it at all. Always on VATSIM...Not long ago, there was EGLL overload, and my previous system was killed by performance. I wonder how new system will perform at such events...

Pat,Your numbers are about right for your hardware..If FPS is a problem to you at JFK, drop water setting as it posses a problem at major airport surrounded by water. Remember this is a flight simulator. Enjoy..

Agreed, you can't just go crank the AI an expect 30+ fps heheActually the UT2/MyTfcX planes are said to be healthier on fps compared to default.Try 50% ai planes and disable cars. Cars are pretty unrealistic anyway, you'll find a ton on rural roads with a high slider.

WELP I guess there really isn't a problem after all,wrb I took you're advice before you even posted it, reduced the water slider and noticed a huuge jump in frames, in context of course.^Actually, I also just installed UT2 and I have no problems *knock on wood* running at 100% density, hitting 30 while taxiing around the airport with the PMDG 747 :) ... WOWCan someone tell me why this is so? Adjusting traffic, autogen, or anything else doesn't really have a noticeable effect, but lowering water settings does. Seems kinda weird to me..On another note, concerning hardware, I have a 40GB SSD on which I run Windows, and I've noticed it fragments a lot really easily, like currently 4000 files and a GB of fragments. Is it bad to continually defrag it using, say, Ultimate Defrag? I've heard doing this can damage or shorten the life of the SSD, is there another way to clean it up?Pat

Anything more than 2.x Low water adds refelections, and that will bring a GTX460 to it's knees. Most of us, me included, run it without reflections anyway cause it looks sort of stupid and unrealistic.I used to have a 460 and know for a fact it couldn't handle reflections, but even with my new 480 I still run it at 2.x Low. Glad to hear you got such great performance BTW, now enjoy ^_^
