April 19, 201115 yr Hi everyone, I hope you can help me...Last night I left my pc running (& it has been running now without a problem for about 5/6 days) and when I woke up in the morning it was still running but there was nothing on the screen. (ie. no signal).I tried to reset & that didn't work. I tried the off button and that didn't work either. I had to disconnect the power at the back to turn it off. I then switched it back on and fans etc all ran but... nothing on the screen. No bios, no windows... nothing. Initially the DRAM_LED light came on & so I pulled the RAM out and then placed it back in. Still nothing and the DRAM_LED only lights once the pc starts and does not come on again.Does this sound like the GFX card is bust? I have no idea what the problem could be so i'm open to anything!Specs are in my signature...Thanks everyone!
April 19, 201115 yr How did you overclock it?Can you hear any beeps? if you can, what's the pattern?Have you tried a clear CMOS?
April 19, 201115 yr Author Hi Dario,Thanks for the response!I OC'd it in the BIOS. Upping the Turbo multiplier to 45, BClk stayed at 100 and Vcore @ 1.3.My system was stable during hours of Prime95 and FSX etc. Temps were maxed at 60 degrees C at full load. Idle is low 30's/high 20's.There are no beeps at all. It sounds completely like a normal boot.I havn't tried to clear the CMOS yet. Will try that when I get home from work.
April 19, 201115 yr Try that and also try reseating your GPU if CMOS reset doesn't work. Also for CMOS reset don't forget to take your backup battery out.Asus says:Cord/Batt out, reseat jumper, batt in, reseat jumper back and then turn back on.
April 19, 201115 yr Greg,I am doing this from my memory which is sometimes a bit foggy, but:Any beeps? What is the number that the motherboard is displaying? Did you push and hold down the round black button for a couple of minutes (beside the DRAM LED light)? That will reset the RAM speeds. Then push and hold the power button until it shuts down. Then try restarting.Kind regards,
April 19, 201115 yr Author Thanks Word Not Allowed & Stephen,I removed the battery & then replaced it. Sure enough, the pc started but then a little earlier this evening... it shut down on it's own once again!I then took out the RAM and placed them into different DIMM slots and the machine started again.I have also had a look through my MB user guide and my Mushkin RAM doesn't feature in the QVL(qualified vendor list) that Asus have listed.Should I try resetting the RAM again or should I look to try and find RAM that is listed in the QVL?
April 19, 201115 yr Author I havn't actually left it at default BIOS settings long enough to tell for sure.It seems to only happen after a considerable amount of time.
April 19, 201115 yr I havn't actually left it at default BIOS settings long enough to tell for sure.It seems to only happen after a considerable amount of time. It's imperative you leave your computer at stock to determine if all components are in working order.Meaning you keep running CPU tests, leave Memtest over night etc... if all tests pass couple of hours each, then you have a good system.THEN you start OCing...
