MUTED pilot

Featured Replies

i have upgraded to a new sytem from pentium 4 to core i7; a totally new system, including the case.my problem is, after installing everything, i became muted.i can hear everything, the ai traffic, other pilots, etc.but my atc window is blank when i am supposed to speak and there are no voices supposed to be coming from me.for example:atc window displays 1] request clearance; so i press 1 to request clearance.then i get a blank atc window and silence (although all other sounds continue)after a while, the ATC speaks and the ATC window displays the words it is speaking.any solution to this?i did not have this problem with my pentium 4 cpu, is it related?thanks.

You'll get a faster response with the RC options Display Text off and PreRecorded (random) AI chatter off. AI Chatter and Interact with AI should be on. If you are seeing a 'green' window displaying RC text go into your modules folder and if advdisplay.dll in in there rename it to advdisplay.dlx to disable it. It is not required for current FSUIPC versions.Did you upgrade your Win version? Does your motherboard have a separate audio system or is it integrated. Are your graphic integrated or separate. FS itself uses mainly the motherboard main processor for graphics rendering so unloading extra tasks for it can make other things run faster. Win 7 according to independent published benchmarks offers a performance increase over previous versions as it can trap complex math calls to the processor and pass them to your graphics GPU if it is not busy allowing the main CPU to be more efficient.FS itself is not a multithreaded application. You might get some benefit by assigning RC to a different core than FS using the affinity assignment I believe in your services applet. Finally what other add-ons are running and what version of FS are your running.Be sure to upgrade FSUIPC (and makerwys.exe) from the links published in the topic at the forum head. These updates include better performance in some conditions including one for increasing RC performance in FSX when RC is used along with ASE.RC is competing with FS and your other add-ons plus any other background tasks running in Windows. CD and weather services require the most processing power in RC to assemble the lengthy audio phrases with all of the data delivered. If you do not hear yourself as pilot be sure to enable the RC option Play Pilot Wavs.

oh sorry for the confusion, i think i might have posted this in the wrong forum? or is this where it is supposed to be?

You are on the forum for the Radar Contact add-on product support. If you are referring to the default FS9 built in ATC then you need to be on the FS 2004 (FS9) Forum here on AVSIM:http://forum.avsim.net/forum/263-the-fs2004-fs9-forum/However the tips I gave apply generally to your multicore system. In some cases be sure in your computer BIOS setting hyper-threading is enabled for non-specific improvement in some instances. You might also want to browse the Readers Tips and Tricks, and the Hardware forum on AVSIM as well to explore performance issues.
