April 23, 201115 yr My i7 2600k is overclocked to 4.5 ghz and after running prime or intel burn test, my Max temperature (using real temp) on the hottest (3rd) core is 75. I read on the intel website that tcase for my CPU is 72.6 Celsius. Do my temperatures from realtemp mean that I should back off my overclock or get a better cooler? Or does realtemp measure something other than tcase bacuse I use gigabyte easytune 6 and my temperatures are around 10 degrees cooler than realtemp? Please help. Thanks. Alfredo Terrero
April 23, 201115 yr That is OK.If realtemp is reporting 75, then it's 75. You can try CoreTemp just to be sure.It does sound a bit too warm to me, for 4.5. What vcore? And what cooler?

April 23, 201115 yr 1.31 vcore. Cooler is an all in one liquid cooling (like the h70 type) but it's xtremegear brand (from cyberpower pc).If it's mounted correctly with enough, but not too much thermal paste, then the temps are way too high. For 1.31 and 4.5 you should be getting something like 65c.
April 23, 201115 yr Realtemp version 367 is ok. It depends on how safe you want to play. My personal maximum allowable temp is 68-deg; Tc minus 5 delta. You will have to do your own study and believe what you want on that one because you are going to be told everything probably up to 100-deg. Educate yourself, Tc is always hotter than core and real temp measures core so if core is 68 what is Tc or better yet how can core at 80 be ok?As a comparison I think you need check your Vcore or cooling or seating of your cooler because I can run 4.5GHz at 1.35v max 65ccooler in my spec Noctua D14 Regards,Gary Andersen HAF932 Advanced, ASUS Z690-P D4, i5-12600k @4.9,NH-C14S, 2x8GB DDR4 3600, RM850x PSU,Sata DVD, Samsung 860 EVO 1TB storage, W10-Pro on Intel 750 AIC 800GB PCI-Express,MSI RTX3070 LHR 8GB, AW2720HF, VS238, Card Reader, SMT750 UPS.
April 23, 201115 yr Author Okay so I will remove the cooler and see if applying some new thermal compound will help. I know it is too hot for 4.5ghz with 1.31 vcore, but based on what you guys are saying I am still safe ( I know if I can reduce the temperatures the better of I will be) correct? April 24, 201115 yr Author Up to 80ºC in stress tests is perfectly safe.Okay thanks all for your help. I still plan to apply a new high quality thermal compound to see if temps go down a couple of degrees. Alfredo Terrero
April 24, 201115 yr I use the same limit as dazz/Dario. 80 is the limit for my stress test. Keep in mind that prime95 and programs such as that stress the CPU more than any game or sim will. Also, with that closed loop water cooling system, intake vs. exhaust makes a great difference. I was hard headed and wanted my H50 to exhaust out of the back of my case. When I finally turned it around to intake from the back, my load temps on the highest core went down 5C... I'm not sure which setup, case, and other fans you're using but give this a thought if you haven't already and it applies to you. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
April 25, 201115 yr Tcase max is maximum package temp. Core temperature can safely exceed this value, in the case of Sandy Bridge up to 100 degrees C, though I don't recommend running your CPU up to 100 C.

I hadn't thought about that, but now I will try it to see if my cooler works more efficiently that way. Alfredo Terrero
