Advantages of External Frame Limiters...

Featured Replies

May I ask the vast and experienced simming community here the following:What are the benefits in using an external frames limiter as opposed to the one in FSX settings or modifying the fsx.cfg file ?Thanks

Long story short..... Some find using a external limiter better some do not. I for one do use the external limiter as I dont want to stop and adjust the FSX limiter when needed. Using the external limiter I set it and forget it. The limiter reduced/stops the large FPS swings or surges you may get when flying into different areas. By setting FSX to unlimited frames you unleash a bit of extra horsepower from your FSX. When doing this it is common to gain 5 - 10 extra FPS (depending on the area) which is nice to have when flying demanding aircraft. My feeling is that the people with the higher end 3.8 ghz and up cpu's benefit the most from using the limiter. There is however a down side to using the limiter in that you may/will get some blurries but not bad enough to make me to not use it. Hope this helps you, and Happy Easter!Jim

Good On Ya JimThat was clear enough. Will give that option a go.And happy Easter to you too.

The main reason I use it is that it seems to prevent the FSX freeze/crashes that I was getting 20-40 mins into each flight. I know others found the same.

Where does one download the external frames limiter?

Keith Sandford.
