April 25, 201115 yr To be honest, there is no 'best traffic' add-on, it's entirely dependent on what your priorities are. All of them add to your system overhead in some way, so that's one consideration straight away, and of course if you are worried about frame rates, then one of the older traffic add-ons that has low polygon models will be 'the best'. If on the other hand you simply must have the totally latest shiny high polygon model airliners in up to date liveries at all your airports and don't mind the fact that this will probably invoke the need for more system resources, then one of the newer traffic programs will be the best. Then again, you might want to spend no money at all, in which case a free one such as WOAI would be best. You might also value the ability to control or customise things too of course, in which case a traffic add on with those features will be the one which floats your boat. Then there are helicopters to consider. A specialist chopper traffic add-on such as HeliTraffic will be a must for people who want to see helicopters flying around realistically, but then there will be some users who couldn't care less if they never see a helicopter in their virtual skies. So again that's a case of what your personal preferences are.I'm less concerned with up to date liveries on AI traffic in FS, in fact I couldn't care less if BA don't fly their world tail designs around any more, I like seeing them in FS, so I do want some reasonably realistic airline liveries at my airports and real airline names on ATC, but not to the extent of it having to be up to the minute realistic. This means I use Ultimate Traffic for FSX (i.e. not the new version 2 of Ultimate Traffic, but the first version). I do want realistic choppers flying around, so I also use HeliTraffic 2009 too. For me this is the best combination, but for others it would not be their idea of what is best.In short, decide what exactly you want in terms of AI traffic and then base your choice on that.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
April 25, 201115 yr As I see it, there are three choices:- WoAI: Completely free, and adds AI to just about anywhere in the world. The models tend to be very good also. I don't use it because I suspect it of crashing FSX. I can't be sure of this, and I do recommend you to try it. Installation can be a pain however, sicne you will need to download all the packages first.- MyTraffic X: This is a rather cheap package, actually. It includes too many airlines to mention and in that respect gives enormous value for your money. Included are passenger, crago and military aircraft, and, what I think is a bonus: many Russian aircraft are also present. The big downside, however, is that the models tend to be rather basic and the repaints blurry when viewed up close. On the other hand, even with an airline traffic setting 34%, you cvan already expect airports such as EHAm and KORD to be filled to the top with aircraft. MTX is what I use because of the sheer diversity of airlines and aircraft.- Ultimate Traffic 2: A package containing passenger airlines and some crago airlines. The models are very nice, although I think they are mostly the same as the WoAI models. The flightplans are real-world and updated every so often, which is nice. I think the big downside is that there isn't a lot of traffic. For me, too many airlines are missing, some even rather major. Operators like FedEx and UPS seem to be entirely missing! I tried UT2, but ultimately requested a refund due to the low diversity of airlines.Hope that helps.
