April 28, 201115 yr Can anyone remind me how to add an ILS beam to a BGL file?I did find it here once before, but a search gives a huge response, but no actual instruction. Thanks Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
April 28, 201115 yr Speaking about the tools or the steps, Phil?A freeware (doantionware) tool would be this one ADE Airport Design Editor. The steps might be explained there and won't surely be too tricky. There also is payware around but for just doing some ILS beam it would be a bit too much of everything I think.I think the steps are to make a backup, open the bgl, choose the ILS beam object, adjust the preferences there (e. g. angle and width) and then place it. Saving, running FSX, testing, screaming at the screen because it was wrong (optional step this is) and so on. :(

If YOU have to define the location then viewing how they are placed in other airports would be a big help.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
April 30, 201115 yr Author Thanks guysI have Acceleration installed (for SDK), so will have a look at the link. Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
April 30, 201115 yr Author Mmmm....I don't see where the SDK is installed.Any ideas? Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
April 30, 201115 yr Did you try that scenery tool, Phil? It was just an example though, there will be more freeware things around. If you want to use the SDK, you need to install it manually as FSX doesn't do this when not forced to. There's a SDK folder on the first FSX DVD. Find the installer there and then look for the update on the FSX download page or use the Acceleration DVD to get the latest SDK update (there also is a SDK folder then). Here are some more details on the versions. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=SDK_Installation_%28FSX%29
May 1, 201115 yr Author Just a quick 'THANKS'Yes indeed, it worked a treat once I worked out how to use it. It's a good piece of kit too. May 2, 201115 yr Author So I'm reading this as an 'I'm on the ILS now!'. Happy landing, Phil. :(Indeed I am now 'on the ILS', thanks. Many will scorn at such a thing, but I wanted an ILS beam at St Maaten (TNCM) for a little project I'm trying.By the way, you have my admiration for persisting in a recent (and lengthy) thread. I'm sure you know the one I mean :( Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)
May 2, 201115 yr I think I do. You're welcome, Phil. Positive people rule.St. Maarten is a great location and FlyTampa is a great dev too, no doubt and good choice of yours. Good idea for practicing landings there. I think I'll take this one.
May 2, 201115 yr Author Yes, that Drifter looks pretty cool.I'll download the demo I think to see how I like it first.
