April 29, 201115 yr Brought the j41 a 1-2 years or so ago and I love it.Couple things I noticed made FSX freeze how ever.Main thing that made it froze and did it with out fail everytime was if I selected a STAR without selecting a SID.Thats one of my problem as sometimes there is no SID and I don't really want to use my FMC at Take off, but then have to use a STAR on arrival.Secondly and the main reason I'm writing this post is now I can't actually even enter in a waypoint or STAR or SID into the FMC. Actually let me make my self clearer. I can write it in and I click enter ONCE but then nothing, It just shows that I've selected it but if I go into the GPS its not been selected.I remember when it did work that I Had to confirm by clicking enter 2 times but now I only have to click enter once and as a result it doesn't acutally select it then in the GPS.What I have done to try and over come this problem:Reinstalled PMDG J41Reinstalled FSXMoved from Vista to Windows 7Installed FSX and PMDG 71Reinstalled J41Still to no availI have no addons execept Wilco Airbus series volume 1Just can't think of anything else.Regards John
April 30, 201115 yr You're not giving us much to go on here. You bought it 1-2 years ago ? Did you have this issue 1-2 years ago when you first had it ?Or it only occured recently ?When you re-installed it, did you use the installer you last d/l or did you redownloadit from your PMDG account ?If its the former you want to get it from your PMDG account to have the latest version.I recall we had an issue last year if a STAR was selected without a departure airport entered first, some would get a CTD. But that issue originally was resolved for SP2, I'm pretty sure the installer was updated with that fix a while ago.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/295023-fmc-crashes-fsx/Regards.Ernie.
May 2, 201115 yr One other thing to try is updating the FMS data. Its possible that there is some flaw there that is causing the crash when STARS are initialized. If that doesn't fix it you can always submit a support ticket. Branton Turner
May 2, 201115 yr You can Install SP2 just to be sure that you have most recent version of J41. Jetstream also requires FSX SP2 or Acceleration to be installed. Wilco products are messing dll.xml file, but if I remember correctly J41 is not using it.And one other thing, you should sign your posts with real full name per forum rules, otherwise whole thread might get locked/deleted by mods.
