How to add and airport and its procedures to NavData

Featured Replies

Hi everybody.I'm trying to add an airport to PMDG navdata files (because it's not there of course), but I'm having some problems with the wpnavapt.txt. The Airport.dat, SIDSTARS and all the other files went ok and I entered all the precise XX.XXXXXX coordinate numbers, thanks to ADE9X, and frequencies too, but the wpNavAPT.txt is giving me some hard time. I know some numbers are the coordinates, others are heading, which I have identified, and others are lengh, but which is which? Can someone explain me? PS.: Can one of the mods take that "d" away from the first "and" and the part "and its procedures" from the title, please? I just like things to be... right. :( I'm a little bit perfectionist.

In the APT file, the first 5 digits in the first section are length, the last three are heading. The second section is Latitude, and the third is Longitude.

Thanks, but what about the last 10 digits (4th section) after the last dot? I could figure out that the digits 3, 4 and 5 of this part are the heading too.

Looks like the first three numbers before the last dot, and the remaining numbers after it are possibly ILS related. For instance, looking at WELLINGTON (NZWN), I get this "110.3016100041" for runway 16. Looking at a chart from here I see the ILS frequency is 110.3, the final approach course is 161°, and the altitude is 41'. I checked NZCH and this holds true there as well. "109.9001700123" is an ILS freq of 109.9, course of 017°, and altitude of 123', which all matches up with the ILS chart for RWY 02.

Thanks again. I think I've heard about that ILS related numbers in the APT file. It is exactly it. I've checked some lines against the ILS informations and they match. Thanks a lot.
